At the end of the day does it really matters? He decided to walk away, for whatever reason.

Everything about this feels like Jason Meyers decision...except of course Edwards is walking away from millions.  I think to some people there are just way more important things than racing.  And when you're set for life and can do anything you want...choosing to be with your kids and pursue other interests is an easy choice.  And at that level when the stress of racing cancels out the joy of racing you get out.

Just hope it's not a health issue.

Oh you bought all that bullshit? I'm willing to bet that it won't surface anytime soon or ever with certainty that Edward's biggest financial backer generated the money from an illegal ponzi scheme that he rightfully is spending time behind bars for which is the ONLY reason Jason Meyers "retired". Any reason Carl Edwards gives for retiring will likely never be contradicted by any source.

Seriously?  That's where you go with this?  I think you're an idiot.  A typical internet troll.  Regardless of what happened with Jason's financial backer, if the guy wanted to keep racing he could have just about picked his ride.  He walked away in his prime and yes, I absolutely believe it was for family reasons.

Back to topica at hand.  Congrats to Carl.  Hope there's nothing else to this.

Yeah I'm pretty sure as well he would have had no problem finding a ride with another team if he did not want to run his own anymore. The only person to beat Donny Schatz not once but twice that was not from a Nascar funded team. If he wanted to race with the Outlaws he would be more than likely. From the looks of things he is making good money racing here and there in California.

I also thought there was more to this story than just him wanting to retire......until I heard that he is 37 years old.  He's not a spring chicken by professional sports standards.  It's not like he ducked out at 28.  It is easy for me to say this (cause I am not in his shoes) but if I were worth millions, and I had the choice between booking my next 36 weeks on the road every weekend or do whatever the hell I want.......since I do indeed have millions of dollars.....I would do what I want.  Maybe he's just done?

That all being said, the story could come out tomorrow that there is more to it.  Who knows?

Trumps going to make Toyota use an engine based off of a mid 80s camry instead of a Ford Windsor next year. Edwards is concerned he wont be able to compete.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I like a few others hope it's because he wanted to and not something else IE sickness or such.  Just a real sudden thing with their season only a month out.

He is a young man, with a family.  I wonder if he is fearful of concussions.

Actually, he's afraid of running into the big wall Trump's gonna build and getting a concussion.

One of the three reasons he gave was his future health.  I read somewhere else that his wife is a neurologist and her work deals with people who have suffered traumatic head injuries.  The situation with Dale Jr probably weighed heavily in his decision.
