Kinderknecht Reflects on Second Consecutive NCRA Mod Championship!

Park City, Kansas – December 28, 2016 - Defending tour champion Justin Kinderknecht made no commitments in defending his 2014 National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products mod-lite championship, yet at the seasons mid-way point, the Salina, Kansas driver decided to give it a try.

“I actually had no intentions of chasing points again but we kind of found ourselves in the hunt about mid-season and I was having a lot of fun competing so closely with several other guys every week,” said Justin. “Seemed like every race we were battling side by side for the lead or tested in some other way so to come out on top was really gratifying.”

He would out-duel Bel Aire driver Dustin Forsberg for the championship by 75 points in the final point standings.

Justin started racing back in 2003 but never started racing full-time until 2006. The 2016 race season was his sixth full year behind the wheel of a mod-lite and is in love with the division. “I think they are pound for pound one of the most exciting classes to race. I wish we could grow the class a little more to where there was a solid field every week. I think the class is a little under-appreciated because they don’t have the sound of a V8 but they do provide some of the best racing week in and week out and have one of the lowest weekly costs you'll find at the track.”

Justin’s unsure if he will be back to attempt a three-peat as he is tossing around the idea of putting together a late model for the 2017 race season.

As with all drivers, he has plenty of people and sponsors to thank for his championship. They include Galen and Chris Unruh with Autohouse Towing for allowing him to drive one of their cars for the past 4 years and trusting him to take care of their equipment. Nate Ginest with Throttle Jockey as well as Jay Neal with BSB. He would also like to thank his family for always supporting him, especially his wife, Amy, and daughters Kyndall and Karsyn for not only allowing him to pursue his passion but also being his biggest cheerleaders. “I'd also like to thank C-Ray Hall (NCRA president) and the rest of the NCRA staff for working hard to give us a series to race and doing their best to always take care of their racers.”

Kinderknecht, Forsberg and the rest of the top ten in the final point standings will all be officially awarded at the series year-end banquet on Saturday night, January 28, 2017 inside the Cotillion Ballroom in Wichita, Kansas.
