An Overview: 2016 NCRA Season Comes to a Close Saturday Night!
 
All four divisions at Salina Speedway
 
Park City, Kansas – October 17, 2016 - The 46th consecutive season for the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products will come to an end this coming Saturday night, October 22, as all four of the series divisions head to Salina Speedway in Salina, Kansas. It will be the first time in series history that all four NCRA divisions will end their season away from their home track of 81 Speedway in Park City in an event that will be promoted by Speedway’s Inc.
 
The point battle for the series 360-ci sprint, modified, crate late model and mod-lite divisions are all up for grabs with three divisions point champion yet to be decided while drivers throughout each looking to solidify their top ten standings and be invited to the series season-ending banquet in January.
 
This huge one-night event will be the first time in series history that all four NCRA divisions will end their season away from their home track of 81 Speedway in Park City in an event that will be promoted by Speedway’s Inc.
 
Sprints: The 27th consecutive season for the series sprint car division will come to a close and having led most of the 2016 race season, Nebraska’s Don Droud, Jr. has the Ochs Brothers #1x top the point standings and a slim fifteen-point lead over six-time and defending tour champion C.J. Johnson. If Droud can finish ahead of Johnson in heat race and feature competition, Droud could lock up his first ever series championship. Droud has amassed three feature victories on the season while Johnson’ consistency has him second in the standings despite being winless thus far this season. Not to be forgot, Jeremy Campbell will come into championship night with a two-race win streak and just 150-points out of the lead. Jon Freeman hopes to solidify fourth in the final standings and holds an 85-point lead over Seeman for that position.
 
Jeff Stasa, who picked up his first career series victory last season, is looking to reach victory lane for the second time in his career while Forrest Southerland has locked up rookie of the year honors.
 
Current NCRA Sprint Point Standings: 1) Don Droud, Jr. 3155, 2) C.J. Johnson 3140, 3) Jeremy Campbell 3005, 4) Jon Freeman 2765, 5) Ray Seeman 2680, 6) Jeff Stasa 2650, 7) J.D. Johnson 2455, 8) Danny Wood 2310, 9) Jake Greider and Forrest Southerland 2275
 
Modifieds: The 19th consecutive season for the series modified division will come to a close and for the sixth year in a row, the division point championship will be decided at the last race of the season. This year finds Scott Green the point leader in his quest for his first-ever championship. Green comes into the final night with a slim 25-point lead over two-time and defending tour champion Dan Powers. Green has gone winless while Powers has one victory on the season. Not to be counted out, Josh Lanterman sits third in the standings and 150-points out of the lead.
 
Former five-time tour champion Brian Franz is 55-points out of the third position and rumblings from the quiet Halstead, Kansas veteran informs this will be his final series event as he will retire at years’ end. Former champion Tyler Davis is looking to take the fifth spot in the standings from Jason McGehee while Kyler Kemp and Clint McFadden will go after each other to see who is 2016 rookie of the year.  
 
Current NCRA Modified Point Standings: 1) Scott Green 2365, 2) Dan Powers 2340, 3) Josh Lanterman 2210, 4) Brian Franz 2160, 5) Jason McGehee 2125, 6) Tyler Davis 2015, 7) Ryan McAninch, 1855, 8) Kyler Kemp 1740, 9) Clint McFadden 1695, 10) Ross Shipman 1690
 
Crate Late Models: The first full season utilizing crate-only motors and the 33rd season over all will see the “gladiators” of the series late model division close out the 2016 season with Chris Kratzer coming into the finale with a 145-opoint lead over veteran Delbert Smith. If accomplished, Kratzer will claim his second straight division championship, first over all, as he and Dan Smith were declared co-champions last year. Dusty Leonard sits just 165-points out of the lead.
 
While eighth in the standings, Lyle Shepard leads with five feature victories, including four in a row to start the season. Adam Popp will be the tours 2016 rookie of the year.

Mod-Lites: While two-time and defending champion Justin Kinderknecht has wrapped up the victories during the 2016 race season however, a good-solid car count for the season finale could make things interesting for the championship as Dustin Forsberg sits just 55-points behind.

Gates for the all four NCRA championship finale will open at 5:00 PM with race time slated for a 7:00 PM start time. Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults and $5 for children.
