Rohnert Park's Jojo Helberg did it yet again at the 3rd Annual George Snider Classic for Davey Hamilton's King of Wing 410 sprint cars at the bpositively palacial Kern County Raceway Park Sunday night (10-09-16). Helberg was the fastest in qualifying (not a new record) and led the 30-lap main event most of the way. His only serious challengers were Fishers, Indiana's Aaron Pierce (for as long as one of his tires lasted), and Meridian, Idaho's Sierra Jackson (last year's Snider Classic winner). Jackson was second in her heat after a rather daring first turn dive into scoring position. She was :01.74 back of Helberg at the end of the main after picking her way through from 5th. Helberg tore through the five in front of him in a couple of laps. Jason Conn, of Langley, British Columbia, was a solid third, followed by Boise, Idaho's Davey Hamilton, Jr., who was crowned series champion. Ron Larson, of Quesnel, British Columbia, was fifth. Nineteen cars qualified and started the main. IndyCar veteran Davey Hamilton had his usual California Racing Experience, pulling the car into the pits at least twice with "handling problems." Weather: Balmy. Crowd estimate: 1500-1750?
