An Understatement, A HUGE Double-Dip for Sprint Series of Oklahoma!

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – September 12, 2016 - A pivotal weekend in the battle for the inaugural point championship takes place this weekend as the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car Series is set for a double-header weekend this coming Friday and Saturday night.

It all kicks off on Friday night as they make their fourth and final appearance of the season at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore. The SSO will then take to the road and head Northwest to Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Oklahoma for inaugural appearance at the speedway. They will be joined by the Kansas based United Rebel Sprint Car Series (URSS) in much anticipated event between the two series on “neutral” ground.

Current series point leader Danny Shouse holds down 35-point lead over Joe Wood, Jr. “Texan” Brandon Long is just 63-points out of the lead while Shayla Waddell, Chris Kelly, Jake Martens, Jerry Jumper, Cody Whitworth, Sterling Hoff, Loyd Clevenger, Gary Owens, Alison Slaton and Ty Williams are the touring regulars also expected.

Not to be out-done and as “Texans” like to do in all forms of dirt track racing in the Red River area, several will be invading the “Sooner State” in hopes of knocking out the SSO regulars and generating IMCA national points. Kevin Ramey leads the group, along with Chase and Cale Parson, Weston Gorham, Chad Wilson, Michelle and Justin Melton.

John Carney, II, Melton and Wilson have picked up victories at previous SSO appearances at SOS.

This SSO event will pay $750 to win and, as has been the case all year, the top three drivers in their perspective heat races will also be paid.

Gates open at 5:00 PM with race action slated for a 7:30 PM start time. Grandstand admission is just $15 for adults ages 12 and up; kids ages six through twelve just 10.

Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located off of I-35 to exit 29, then east on Hwy 70 approximately 0.7 mile, then south on Hwy 77 two miles. For more information on Sothern Oklahoma Speedway check out their official website www.southernoklahomaspeedway.com and their facebook page Southern Oklahoma Speedway. You may also call the track office (405) 816-4314.

Saturday night’s event at Longdale Speedway with the URSS has both drivers and fans talking as the first ever meeting of the two series, on neutral ground, has the potential to give race fans the largest sprint car count in the tracks short history.

The URSS is led by their point leader Luke Cranston. Cranston has two URSS national tour victories on the season and holds down a 46-point over Zach Blurton, who also has two feature victories on the season. Other URSS regulars slated to appear include Jed Werner, Darren Berry, Brian Herbert, Steven Richardson, Aaron Ploussard, Jeff Radcliffe, Austin Mclean, Ty Williams, Kaden Taylor, Keefe Hemel, Lance Davis as well as Koby and Ryan Walters.
Sprint car veteran Mike Peters, who was seriously injured in a sprint car accident a couple of years ago in a 360-ci sprint event in Nebraska, has been back behind the wheel this season with the series and will drive his own #49.

The combined SSO/URSS event at Longdale Speedway will pay $1000 to win and will be the last sprint event slated for the track in 2016. Gates open at 5:00 PM with race time slated for a 7:00 PM start time. Grandstand admission tickets are just $15 for adults, $12 for all seniors and military while ages 12 and under will be admitted free.

Longdale Speedway is located a quarter mile south of town on Hwy 58. More information on the big three-eighths mile track and facility can be found on the tracks official website www.longdalespeedway.net or by accessing their official facebook page: Longdale Speedway. More race information call (580) 886-5375.
