I think I'm going to plan a trip to Australia this year to watch some sprint car racing. Does anyone have any tips, or a place that can assist with this?

I can help you for information on sprint car racing in Australia as I go each year. It depends when you want to go but the best time to go is from Christmas to the end of January when all the big races happen like the classic at Warrnambool and the Scott Darley Challenge at Sydney. A great website to check out is sprintcarworld.com.au as they have schedules and stuff. Think of place you want to see and there is bound to be racing nearby. If you have questions I would be more than happy to help.

There was a booth at the Knoxville Nationals selling Australian sprint car vacation package tours.  I took a brochure but don't know where I put it.  Anyone else visit this booth that can remember the name of the group?  It was airfare, hotels, tickets all included.  10 and 14 day trips I believe were available.

Wish I could give you specifics---hope someone else can chime in.

Just remember to sleep as much as you can on the plane.  My two trips over I left LA on a Sunday night after having been up all day and when I landed it was Tuesday morning and the day was just starting.  You will be too excited that first day but you will be almost dead come day two, lol.....Enjoy, no better time that a visit Down Under.  By the way the Aussies like the same 3 things I like, they like their grog (alcohol), they like their racing and they like to gamble and they have a great system country wide called the TAB which is thoroughbred, standardbred horses and dog racing, can't beat it.....

We did a trip in January 2013 very similar to the tour described above.  Arrived in Sydney on Friday morning and saw the WSS at Sydney (Valvoline) Speedway on Friday and Saturday.  Sunday was spent sightseeing around Sydney (Sydney Harbor, Opera House, Bondi Beach, etc).  Monday and Tuesday we traveled (rental car) and saw the sights between Sydney and the Melborne area.  Wednesday was Presidents Cup at Avalon Raceway, Thursday we drove the Great Ocean Road and Friday was King's Challenge at Borderline (mt Gambier).  The Classic at Premier was still 2 days then which was Saturday and Sunday.  Monday was a quick commercial flight from Melbourne back to Sydney and Tuesday we left for home.

Overall, 11 days, we saw 6 races at 4 tracks and some awesome scenery along the way.  We scheduled it all on our own online.  Flights, car rental, hotels, tickets, everything...just like we were traveling through the states.

It was a great time.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

All the best! Have fun!
