TULSA, Okla. (August 16, 2016) - Harlan Sale pulled off a hard fought victory in Sooner Late Model Series competition last week at Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada and will be looking to repeat when the series returns to Brill’s Motor Speedway in Meeker on Saturday.

It will be the third visit to Brill’s Motor Speedway this season. Damian Patocha won the first visit to the 3/8’s mile oval on May 7th while Jay Sale won his second SLMS feature of the season at Meeker on July 16th.

Sale’s victory at Oklahoma Sports Park was one of the most exciting finishes in the eight SLMS races run to-date. The first time winner led on three different occasions during the 25-lap main event.

Tire wear was a factor for large part of the 20-car field. Sale led the first eight laps before Sloppy Hogg took over. Hogg eventually suffered a right rear flat and Sale regained the lead. In the final five laps Joseph Gorby passed Sale for the lead only to blow a tire with three laps remaining. Sale again found himself out front and was passed by Hogg, after a pit stop, in the final laps. However Hogg was ruled a lap down and Sale was the winner.

While many blew tires Sale was able to conserve his for the win.

“The key was consistency,” Sale said of his victory. “I rode the brakes pretty hard to make it work right. But I can’t complain. The car worked perfect.

“The tires got a little wear. That is where the control came in. I figured the longer I could stay where I was the better.”

The win moved Sale into a ninth place tie in the point standings. Mark Harrison leads the points chase having logged eight top five finishes. Two-time winner Eddie Martin is 115 points behind Harrison. Jay Sale holds down third, Dalton Ragsdale of Muskogee and Jason Redman of Tulsa round out the top five.
