Does anyone know if they made a nationals belt buckle for the first year Steve Kinser won the race? His first win came in 1980 so the buckle came out in 1981. It was the year he was in the Bob Trostle #20 with a Karl Kinser engine. I've been told it exists and been told it doesn't??  Any help would be appreciate!

I do not know if the 1981 buckle exist, but I see a 1978, 1982, 1983, 1984 buckles for sale on Ebay right now.  I know it doesn't answer your question, but I would say it probably does exist.  Doesn't seem likely they would just stop making the buckles for a couple years.

I have all the other buckles from the years Steve won but that one, and also some older ones than 1980/81! Come on you knoxville old timers does it exist and if it Does? Who wants to sell one??

I don't remember what year they started selling them (early to mid eighties,) and their plan was to produce two every year. One for the current year with the previous years winner on it and one from a year before they started producing them. I'm pretty sure if they started in, for example, 1982, then in 1983 they were going to produce one for '83 and '81. Then in '84 the two buckles would be for '84 and '80, and so on. I bought them for a few years and then they either quit or I just lost track of them. I still have them somewhere. If I get a chance, I'll try to do some digging this weekend. If I find them, I'd be willing to turn them loose.

The buckle does exist I have a complete set of all the National winners that starts in 1961 and ended in 2010 when they quit producing thwm
