King of the West 410’s head next for the $3500-to-win David Tarter Memorial on June 4 in Chico

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – May 25, 2016…The fourth annual David Tarter Memorial is coming to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico next weekend. Friday June 3 features a Winged 410 Sprint Car point race, while Saturday June 4 is round four on the season for the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series. In honor of the late David Tarter the KWS main event on June 4 will be 35-laps & pays $3500-to-win. Kyle Larson Racing has also added $500 to the driver who sets fast time during the night.

The Tarter family will be selling commemorative event T-Shirts & Sweatshirts during the weekend. They’ll also be raffling off a helmet & two embroidered blankets among other items, with proceeds going to the Enloe Foundation, which provides comfort items to children served by Enloe Medical Center, as well as the Northern Auto Racing Club Benevolent Fund, which uses 100% of the funds raised to support the families of injured drivers, crew members and officials running Sprint Car Series’ in California.

The David Tarter Memorial is also the final King of the West visit to Silver Dollar Speedway this season and track announcer Troy Hennig couldn’t be more excited for the weekend.

“This is a very special event for a lot of people and it really has been outstanding the last few years. The night we lost David Tarter was an emotional one and we’re glad to keep his memory alive here at Silver Dollar Speedway. The King of the West Series put on a fantastic show at the Bradway in April, so you most definitely will not want to miss the Tarter. Come on up and make a weekend out of it with all your closest racing friends at the fairgrounds.”

The David Tarter Memorial has been captured the last three years by Fresno’s Craig Stidham, Paradise, CA’s Kyle Hirst and Roseville’s Sean Becker respectively. With three races complete Campbell’s Bud Kaeding holds a six-point lead in the King of the West standings over Hirst, who captured the series visit to Silver Dollar Speedway on April 30. Hometown driver Jonathan Allard ranks third in the standings and is just 13-markers out of the lead, with Hanford’s DJ Netto and Fremont’s Shane Golobic rounding out the top-five.

Camping is available on the fairgrounds for an ironic fee of $35 a night. The front gate will open at 5pm on Saturday June 4, with adult tickets $20, juniors 12-15 will be $15 and kids 6-11 are $6. All seating is general admission during the night.

The Silver Dollar Speedway is located on the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds, a half-mile west of SR 99 on Park Ave in Chico, California. For directions and a map visit http://www.silverdollarspeedway.com/location.php

The David Tarter Memorial is also the third Williams Roofing of Fremont, CA Royal Fan Draw night, which works as follows. A trivia question will be asked from the announce booth and the fan that answers correctly will pull a random number (1-22) out of a bag. The fan automatically wins $100 and if the driver wins the feature from the starting spot drawn, the driver receives a $1000 bonus. The Royal Fan Draw is taking place at nearly half of the KWS events in 2016.

The King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series is held under the management of Prentice Motorsports Group, which also operates the Civil War 360 Sprint Car Series presented by Flowmaster, the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo, the Wingless Sprint Car Series presented by Hunt Magnetos, the All Star Modified Tour and Ocean Speedway.
