Happy 47th birthday. You are still truly missed. Wonder what you would be doing in racing.

Watching Kyle Larson in a sprint car reminds me a lot of Kevin.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I hear you minthess. There are a couple of drivers that remind me of him.  Every now and then I think to myself what would Kevin be doing now. Would he be with the outlaws still or maybe racing local again. Still miss watching him race. I hope Scott has a huge turnout Sunday.

The sting of losing the G-Man will probably be felt by the entire sprint car community for decades to come. Hard to believe it's been so long but still after all these years, it's rare to go to Lincoln Speedway without seeing at least one Kevin Gobrecht shirt as well as any track holding a sprint car race in this area. We all knew early on that the G-Man would be great and just as that greatness was truly being realized, tragedy struck. I'll never forget the winning streak he went on in the Zemco #11 in early 1999. 3 wins within 24 hrs at 3 different tracks and I forget how many in a row but it was incredible. "G-Man: A foot full of throttle, A gut full of Determination and a head full of dreams."

I can still see him running up the stairs after winning the Big One & turning toward the crowd with arms raised in triumph.

If anybody was still awake to keep the camera rolling!  In all seriousness, RIP G-Man... he was a gasser's gasser.
