Powers Looks to Continue NCRA Modified Success!
Season Opens This Saturday Night

Park City, Kansas – April 14, 2016 - It has been an “unbelievable” five years for two-time and defending champion Dan Powers of Wichita, Kansas and he has a good shot at continuing his success yet again this year. Powers headlines the list of drivers who are set to open the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified season this Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Park City in a special event that will pay $2000 to win.

Starting out in 81 Speedway’s four-cylinder hornet division and then moving to street stocks, Dan made the move to the series modified division five years ago, finishing runner-up in the series rookie points and learning the ropes of the more powerful modified engines.

While maintaining top ten finishes in final point standings the first three years, it was a switch to Billsbuilt chassis that seemed to take him to the next level.

“Two (NCRA) championships, five feature wins including the Hutchinson Grand Nationals is just unreal,” said Dan. “We always go out to win races and let the point chase end up where it does. I can’t believe the support that I have had from a lot of people, it’s just unbelievable.”

This season his goals are unchanged, winning as many races as possible and let the point championship play out on its own, yet there is one goal he desperately wants to achieve. With the future of the famed Hutchinson Grand Nationals at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in jeopardy, “I really want to get another Hutch championship, that is my main goal.” Just has been the case at many traditional fairgrounds dirt tracks throughout the country, what was once the staple on State Fairgrounds is currently being lost to unrealistic promises of a more profitable direction of modern fairgrounds facilities. Those with no knowledge or forsight think will translate into instant fairgrounds revenue ridding the tradition that is fairgrounds dirt tracks and special events.

Just like in all forms of auto racing, it takes more than just the driver to achieve success and it all starts behind the scenes. Dan wouldn’t be able to do what he loves without the help from his sponsors and this year is no different. He would like to thank the following for their partnership for the 2016 race season: Billsbuilt Racecars/ KBS Race Engines BrainBucket Dezigns, Decker Financial Services, Total Electric. Of course, all the late night hours in the shop from his car owner Bob Breising, along with crewmen Jason Nulf and Matt West, make it possible for Dan to feel he has nothing to worry about once the familiar #4 is out on the track. “I can’t think those guys enough as they are a big part of my accomplishments the past couple of years.”

This Saturday night will see pit gates open at 5:00 PM with race action slated for a 7:00 PM start time. Grandstand general admission tickets are just $15 for this event. 81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then 0.7 mile west on 77th street in Park City. For more race information contact the speedway office (316) 755-1781 and get daily updates by accessing their official facebook page: Race 81 Speedway.
