LSS Turkey 'axed', replaced with December 5th 'Stocking Stuffer 25' & Awards Bash!
Kilgore, TX (11/25/15) by DarinShort.com. 'Tis the season when a lot of turkeys get the ax, and now LoneStar Speedway's (LSS) Turkey Nationals is getting the ax from Mother Nature - as November 28th has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
However, we're not going to let Mother Nature's latest antics keep us all from doing what we love:
The current long-range forecast next week currently appears very suitable for racing, so we're moving forward with a replacement event, called the 'Stocking Stuffer 25' on Saturday December 5th at 2pm! Racers can come earn some extra Holiday cash, fans can donate to our Holiday Food Drive (and save $3 on adult tickets!) and we'll round out the full day of fun and action with our LSS Awards Bash!
This will be the final race of the season at LSS and a great purse structure is in place. The high-powered Modifieds will be racing for $1,250 to win and $120 to start, while the Limited Modified winner will take home $750 and it pays down to $70 to start. The exciting Factory Stocks will be gunning for $500 to win and $50 to start, and the 4-Cylinder division (recently added to the Turkey Nationals) will have their long-awaited race, paying $150 to win and $35 to start.
Hot laps December 5th fire off at 2pm, and we're estimating the races to finish by 7pm. Pits open at 11am, Grandstands at 1pm, Draw Cut-Off at 1:30pm.
Adult grandstand tickets are $15. Kids ages 6-11 are $5, while Seniors (ages 65+) and Active Military can take in the racing program for $12. All pit passes for all ages are $35.
Our annual Holiday Food Drive will also take place throughout the day, and Adults bringing a non-perishable food donation or new/unused toiletries donation will receive $3 off admission to this event! Just bring your donation to the ticket window, you'll be issued your discount right then, and we'll accept your donation.
The LoneStar Holiday Food Drive helps many area families in need, and each year we're proud of the LSS family for coming together to help with this great cause. The only difference this year, is there's a race on the same day!
Kids attending the event will be in store for some big fun, as we'll be having Christmas Stockings stuffed with presents that will be drawn from their ticket numbers! Prize drawings will take place throughout the races.
PLUS! Immediately following the races will be the LSS Awards Bash, honoring the top point's drivers in each of the LSS points divisions!
The top 10 drivers in the Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Limited Modifieds will each receive (4) food/beverage tickets. Note that the concession stand will be open for one hour after the final checkers, so make sure to get your meal redeemed by then.
Race fans are encouraged to stay for the LSS Awards Bash so they can mingle and cheer on their favorite drivers as they accept their awards. There is no added charge to stay for the Awards Bash, and it will begin approximately 10 minutes after the final checkers. Again, the concession stands will remain open during the Awards Bash.
Here are some quick facts for the SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5th event:
-“Twilight Start Times” are in effect: Pits open at 11am, Grandstands open at 1pm, Hot Laps at 2pm, with Racing to follow immediately. The draw for sign-in closes at 1:30pm sharp
-Adult General Admission $15* (ages 12-64; tickets available at the gate on race day only. *with Holiday Food Drive donation, each adult with a donation will receive $3 off adult ticket prices. Promotion discount applies to adult tickets only in the main grandstand area. One discount per adult donation.)
-Kids (ages 6-11) just $5
-Ages 5 and under admitted free with adult admission
-Active Military (with I.D.) or Senior’s (Ages 65+) General Admission $12
-Upgrade any ticket to the Reserved Section (bucket seats) for $5 per person
-All Pit Passes $35
-No outside food/drink coolers are allowed inside, a full selection of economically priced food concessions, including beer, are available.

The 2015 racing season nationwide has been plagued with weather woes when it comes to many special events, leaving race tracks scrambling to come up with viable solutions. We're all bummed out that we don't get to host the Topless Late Models this coming Saturday, but at least we're not just giving up and calling it a year. Our December 5th Stocking Stuffer 25 will be a lot of fun for fans of all ages, and give racers a chance to grab some extra Holiday cash!
