Hey, just for fun--pick the top 5 for the Eldora truck race. (I don't even yet know who's committed)

1. Who cares 2. Who cares 3. Who cares 4. Who cares 5. Who cares. Anything involving NASCAR is becoming pathetic. Wake me up when they decide to put these drivers in a 410 seat then we'll see who's who.

It's hard to believe 10 years ago the buzz around the dirt track world was a non-wing sprint car race paying a million dollar purse. Now it's a mid-week truck race...

Who cares? I would say a lot of people care. If I am reading the Eldora website correctly, the show is already sold out.
Anything involving NASCAR is becoming pathetic? They've hardly sold out a Sprint Cup race in the last 5 years and they just sold out a truck race 2 months before the event. I agree they took many steps backwards in the last 10 years, but they are now finally trying to tap new markets by not being so damned stuffy and arrogant. So, I would say this race, coupled with a couple of other subtle and not-so-subtle changes that they have made, are at least a step in the right direction.
Put the drivers in a 410 seat and we'll see who's who? Yeah, who's who in a 410. I love sprint car racing, but your success in the racing world isn't determined by how well you drive a 410 sprint car. Two of the greatest sprint car drivers in the history of the world were failures in both stock cars and indy cars. But because they can drive a sprint car--that's what matters? Two of the greatest drivers of all time, in my eyes anyways, don't have a sprint car victory. (I am pretty sure) Tim Richmond and Scott Bloomquist.
I am going to enjoy the race at Eldora that night and everyone who likes any form of stock car racing or dirt track racing should also at least give it a chance. Sprint car fans may get some bragging rights out of the whole deal. ?

Tim Richmond had plenty of seat time in a sprint car.

^^ This. Plenty of drivers from other disciples besides winged sprints have proven they belong in those cars. I'd rather watch sprints, but in that aspect I'm just a fan. Very few people on this board that should be judging absolute driving talent.
Hope this is a great show and they do more of them. I'm a road racer and I feel like that past couple years of Watkins Glen has opened some eyes to how good that racing can be, I wish the same for Eldora.

Totally agree on the road course racing. I have really gotten to love the Watkins Glen races. I also thought the Mexico Nationwide race was very entertaining. My favorite has been the Circuit De Villeneuve (spelling?). Unfortunately, this race has been cancelled I believe. Fun to see the ringers. That is why I think the Eldora truck race will be very entertaining. (now watch--it will suck and I will be wrong again)

I didn't say sprint car seat time--I said sprint car victory. I felt sure that he had not won in a sprint car. I did some research and found nothing. He drove a stock car like no one else in the world ever did as far as I'm concerned. If he hadn't passed away early, Richard Petty's seven championships would not have been tied by Dale senior. They may have been tied by Tim Richmond.

Top five winners/moneymakers are --
1- Eldora (ticket sales)
2- NASCAR
3- Eldora (concessions)
4- Any lodging within an hour's drive of the track (includes Eldora's camping-spot sales)
5- Whoever wins the race

I misread your post. Sorry. My bad. I completely agree about Richmond's potential. Its a shame he isn't around to race a truck at Eldora.
