305 Rules are staying the same except for the tire rule. No changes in the engine rule at all, no 350 blocks.

NO RULE CHANGES FOR KNOXVILLE..JUST 3 SETS OF RULES IN ONE STATE..ANOTHER GREAT BRAINSTORM FROM THE GUYS AT KNOXVILLE..WHY WOULD EVERYONE WANT TO USE THE SAME RULE BOOK???? THE RESULT WILL BE HIGHER ENGINE COSTS AND LOWER CAR COUNTS AT THE RACETRACKS..GREAT MOVE KNOXVILLE..AND DID I FORGET UP GO THE COSTS AGAIN ,BECAUSE KNOXVILLE SAY YOU MUST USE HOOSIER TIRES ON ALL 4 CORNERS..I AM SURE THIS WILL ATTRACT MORE DRIVER AND OWNERS TO THE SPORT,.

BUt the 305's won't have to buy new tires unless they want to (being on teh same tire as the 410's and 360's means that USED tires will be in abundance compared to years past when everyone was on a different tire rule).

Good move IMO to try to help the 305 guys spend less $$ (unless they CHOOSE to buy new tires every week).

Not sure how leaving the current rules alone will cost anyone any more $$$ either. The guys that want to race at Knoxville already were, by changing to a different set of rules all they would be doing is costing the current guys that race there more $$$ and for what, maybe 1 or 2 more guys that MIGHT show up and run here and there??

The biggest problem I see for the 305 class is the "powers that be" thinking that yearly or bi-yearly rule changes will help the car count. The best way to help a car count is to leave the rules alone PERIOD, every single time a rule changes, it costs teams $$$$ and costs fans cars to watch race.

Would someone please explain to me why Knoxville should have to change their rules when they have best 305 car count in the Mid-West. Berlington is the closest in car count on a weekly show and Jackson has only a hand full. I believe that the Mid-West 350 club is done seeing as that they only had one race last year.

On this change rules/leave the rules as is deal you have 2 schools of thought it always appears. You have the school of thought from the people that have the equipment and car set up already so for the most part they don't want to see things change and cost them money or even possibly cost horsepower and then you have the people that are looking for the rule change to maybe lower the initial cost for people to get into the series or to bring in others who have a car already but have it setup for a different track with different rules. I can see both sides reasoning and am not saying 1 is right or wrong.

This year some of the Midwest Mod series in Wissota were trying to change the transmission rule cause right now you have to run a powerglide and guys are getting sick of trying to #1. find 30 year old transmissions and then pay to build them, from what I've been told it can be around $800 to get 1 up and going and you also have to have a spare at all times cause on average they last around 60 races, so if you want to race the next week you'd better'd have a spare ready to go, oh and when they go alot of times they're junk so you don't just rebuild them. Well some were pushing to allow the use of the Bert transmission like the A mods and Lates use, $1200 I think to buy it and you pretty much never wreck 1, I think the rebuild on them is around $300. But it got voted down because many of the B mod drivers already had there 2 powerglides sitting there and complained about them then being useless, I think they even offered that they could still use there powerglides until they were out, but they complained that they would then be at a power disadvantage. My main point is no matter how good of a reason you think there is to change a rule, there will always be people against it.

Depending on what tire the 410 class goes with, they might allow either the 360 or 410 RR tire, still D12 or harder on LR and open fronts from what I understood.

As of the meeting Saturday, 360 is the same 16 wide MED ASCS tire, 410 was still undecided but they said it will be a 16 wide also, just maybe a different compound than the 360.

So the engine rules did not change? We were planning on trying to make a race or two but we were told they went to the 350 block. If they didnt change thats great in my opinion. last season was my rookie season and im just wanting to get more seat time at some other tracks when we arent racing at 34 Raceway
