Did U see the big pieces of tire laying on the track? I am guessing it was a tire deal myself!

Gotta agree with lake on this one. If you watch the highlights from the knoxville website, about lap 45 Sammy has low tire air pressure. Entering turn 3 with Schatz on the outside, Sammy's left rear looks like it has about 2-4 lbs or less of air pressure. Could just be my eyes, but Schatz left rear looked fuller, like 6-8 lbs. I am not an expert by any means on tires or tire pressures, so this is just an observation. It looked to me from the highlights the tire was going down for a few laps before it blew. I didn't notice this while watching the race at the track, but the video shows the tire being soft.

Why should Sammy bash Goodyear? There were the same amount of blown tires as blown motors and no more than the 10 year average of either.

It's not Goodyear's fault he couldn't figure out what a majority did. Go ahead and blame the tire in 2010, then give me the 33 other excuses for his failure to win the big one.

You know Sammy has been to Knoxville as Mario Andretti has been at Indy. They have won everything except winning the big race only once. And in Mario fashion completely dominating the field until something breaks with less than a handfull of laps. I guarentee you anyone else that experianced a blown tire this year you go stuff a microphone in there face you would probably get the same reaction each time. I dont think i have seen or heard a racer in the heat of the moment just stand there and smile and say whoops we blew a tire at the biggest race shucks we will get em next time??? Sammy is just a driver on a mission at the track. Hes quiet and his mind fully revolved around the race car and how to go faster. I dont think there was anyone that night that didnt wanna see him win this time he had a hell of a season and this would of been a way to put away the curse thats plagued him at Knoxville at Nationals time. You know that night he did everything about as perfect as you could do it even taking an extra lap to fuel cool the motor so it didnt cook a head gasket when he stopped as hard as he was racing with Schatz. I think thats what happened to the Kinser/Schatz engines. If anyone has been around those 33 years and heard or seen of some of the stuff that hes went through you would understand the curse.

He is cursed as far as the Nationals finale goes and that's a sure thing. I've said Kevin will win the Nationals before Sammy gets his second and if the kid sheds the wing long enough to give it a shot I might just end up being right.

let me ask you this. If you were speed TV, would you air an interview that would be seen as a detriment to future sponsorship of an event? I am sure plenty of speed employees have their opinions of Goodyear, but it would be a big black eye to your major sponsor of the event if Sammy's interview would have been aired. (or Brian Brown if he gave one) To add to that, I didnt see an interview from Kinser either. Maybe he bashed the 50 lap race and pit stop as being reasons he lost his motor? just speculating though. As much as many of you dont like it, you cant bite the hand that feeds you. It would be like bitching about the farmer with your mouth full!! I knew the second i saw his interview, they wouldnt air it on the broadcast of the event. common sense, not conspiracy

It should not Speed's responsibility to only air positive, feel good, happy go lucky comments. If they are going to broadcast the race, then every story needs to be covered thoroughly. When the leader blows a tire with a couple laps to go, that is the overwhelming story of the event.

When the Cup race at Indy turned into a tire fiasco a few years ago, there wasn't much of a clamor to suppress interviews because it would make the sport look bad. If you are a reporter covering the event, your job is to report the news, not just the news that is glowing positives. I know Knoxville was not a tire fiasco, but why would you actually be campaigning to only partially cover the biggest storyline of the race -- the leader blowing a tire?

And I say all that above with the belief that the exact same thing could have happened to a Hoosier tire as well.

An independent reporter may report all, but when your food chain starts with Goodyear, you are in sense working for them. How long would you last at your job if you bashed the owner/big boss in front of all to see? Not long in my experience with the corporate world.

Whatever Sammy said in his interview was edited out for good reason. Anyway, we all know what he most likely said.

goodyear and knoxville raceway both paid to have this broadcast made, speed got paid to show it, so it would not have surprised me if Sammy pointing at the wheel would have got edited out too.

I did not want to see Sammy win, this year I finally got what I want every year, first time winner

am already looking forward to my favorite knoxville nationals ever, the next one

It was Sammy's race he had the car , he out drove everyone , it was the way it should have ended . But I still say more needs to be done with the Goodyear tire regardless , as many teams have told me it is not made the same as other tires used for sprint car racing WoO needs to find other sponsors other then tire companies , AN OPEN TIRE RULE WOULD BE GOOD FOR SPRINT CAR RACING AND ALL FORMS OF RACING ,not making the cars all the same .
