i've tagged this onto a couple of different posts, so i thought i would try it like this. i have rcently come across a super chassis that i am going to restore. i'm being told its a nance, but i dont think so, just by what i've seen in these pages. anyway, it was the #1 or possibly 7 and raced with a v-6 at tulsa(has a sound sticker from the 83 season)the only sponsor that i can see is daley speed shop. i am really interested in any pictures that may be of it but general info would be the most benefit any help with this is greatly appreciated

Here's a start if you haven't talked to them.

2304 Charles Page Blvd, Tulsa, OK

That address is very close to a veteran racer shop from the 70's. I believe he still owns race cars. I've been by the shop and there is still race cars there. He was a well known 6 cylinder racer, A big name at Tulsa Speedway. I'm just having a brain fart right now. I'm in Grand Prairie, TX heading down to Temple and back to OKC and then home. I'm sure I will think of his name going down the road?

Somebody will know who I'm thinking of. I just can't pull his name out of the memory banks right now.

Vic Paddock is the name I was thinking of. His shop is located close to or this might be his shops address?

Maybe post a photo of the parts you have. Is it a sprint tail super or square type tail etc.

Vic Paddock racing is located at about 3300 Charles Page Blvd. Just south of the Knotty Pine BBQ resturant on the S curve. Thats the only race shop existing in the area now. Don't know about the old days.

As soon as you said Daley Speed Shop I knew who's this car was. The driver was Pete Frazier and 1983 would have been his first year driving the OFIXCO V-6. There are a few pictures posted on this site of the car and Pete. I dont know really which car you have but I was thinking those cars where all Stanton's they ran in 83. We lost Pete about 10 yrs ago, but Tony Armstrong was one of the drivers for OFIXCO and I bet he would know more about that car than anyone. He is on here sometimes.

Jerry Hailey took the v-6 ride over until OFFIXCO got out in the mid-80s (86?).

He lives in Norman last I heard.

That was the baddest v-6 out there, rarely saw the hood off and was always close to the front.

that is so cool to find out. just wish i could get pictures up so ya'll can see the car. as far as what the chassis is, from what i'm seeing on the site, it looks more like a stanton than anyhting else. just by where the wing mounts are located on the cage. you cats are awsome!! makes me all the more excited to get started on it. not that its gonna be a fast project, but i just want to get started. thanks again fellas!!

i went to racing from the past site to hunt down some pics. under supers, modifieds and sprints of the 80's there is pics of mr hailey and mr frazier, but the chassis i have does not have the arm protecting bars running down the sides of the cockpit.

Brian, Jerry Hailey actually lives in Purcell, Ok. south of Norman, seen Jerry last year while at Car Wash in Purcell, dropped by and we talked some and told me that he did not miss those car washes at all,lol , still looks like he could step into one and win again, but he said no more for him, it is all about the lake and kids now , he was one of those who when he had to could do more with less and proved it after the Ofixico ride, he was pretty good in his own stuff in the late 80's/early 90's as well.

Those V-6's were definately hard to make live as I experienced helping Charley F. back then with his car , had a lot of difficulty with them oiling the bottom end ,Tom "Sluggo" Sanders still had his V-6 complete from back then till he passed away several years ago , not sure what happened to it after his passing.

I didn't make myself very clear on the above address. I looked the Daley Speed Shop up and that was the address I came up with from the Google Machine. Don't know if it is still their though.

Hey JD, dad still has one of our Carbone V-6's stashed away somewhere at his shop. The only problem we had with oiling was the night I was leading the A feature with three laps to go and the drain plug fell out. Yes, I changed the oil that week and forgot to tighten it all the way. That's why I build models now and not engines!

Seems like the car Jerry drove was a Stanton, or one very much like it. Through the years , OFFIXCO tried differant brands, but it is stuck in my mind Jerry drove a Stanton design in '86.

And it was 1986 for sure the v-6 engines held court for the last time. A rumor got out of a bone stock v-8 combination for 1987 at both Lawton and OKC. And that, spelled the end for us over time since we couldn't afford a $4,000-$8,000 "bone stock", methanol burning v-8.

John, All I can say to that is OUCH!! and sure it had to wait till you were leading the A, Ya know I left a rag down in the intake over night back in the early 90's and next day set the Carb on it and never remembered the rag in the intake well started the thing (we had just freshened the motor) and well she just did'nt sound real crisp and started noticing pieces of red rag coming out of the Header and then I remembered and killed it immediately, spent the next several hours picking red rag from exhaust side and had to pull intake to get it out of intake valves , really funny deal now but back then felt pretty bad and was not sure if I might have bent some valves but went to Meeker that Sat. and no issues and really felt fortunate , still have a piece of that shredded red rag hanging on the garage wall to remind me of that deal.

A Carbone V6 was a great motor back then, he seemed to build one that would live and of course was fast too, just know lots had issues with getting them to live and stay together that tried to build them on their own.

Brian, Those bone stock V8's that ran from 4 to 8 grand in 87/88 are now roller motors that can get up to nearly 30 grand with all the good pieces and lightweight stuff and the crazy thing is we are running for literally the same money as we did back in the late 80's. But I remind myself of all the fun I am having on a daily basis.lol
