Could it have just been close racing? I mean, I know it's early, but it is a SPRINT car race. Everyone was alright, get a grip people. As for people booing, I believe it coming from certain people in that section of the track, they'd do the same thing if it wasn't a WoO show and the numbers were reversed on the car...happens all the time. Certainly not calling everyone out on that hill, 90% are good people having fun, the other 10% are really the bottom 10% of the population no matter where you are.
As for Montieth's in ability to pass.....he, uh, well, how do I say this: He's passed more cars at the Grove every year for the last 4-5years! He's the hard charger 75% of the time. You can't pick a driver nationwide really that would be a worse fit for that statement....

no beers thrown that I saw...beer hill has more respect for a bent can than wasting it on a guy who can't make a lap at speed. Montieth was in the same groove along the wall as Leppo and Schatz was on the inside all the way back to his failed entry choice in turn 1 until he tried to move up...right into the 21 car who was already commited to pass the bakery boy.
the contact happened right in front of us..tho WoO might consider making turn signals mandatory for the slow cars and this might not have happened,

A beer WAS thrown they escorted the guy that threw it out of the the race track

The WG message board post said the beer can came from the infield. A lot of class from a group of drunks.

I got a question for the PA fans on here...I always hear on WoO televised races that Rahmer gets booed alot of the time there. Do the fans boo him when he wins against the WoO or just weekly races? Just wonderin

Jamie, and without any frills, hit it square on...Donny was obviously trying to set up higher entry to turn 3 which caused this whole thing, both angles support that, but this is a racing deal.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

From a Schatz fan....lol
Cool he's ok, but him and his fans arrogance is looking silly right now both in PA and out on the trail...

Couple of things. Watching from turn three in the infield (totally sober, thank you) it was tough to tell who got into who, just very close racing. Very glad to see Donny OK though, he took a heck of a ride. Secondly, no one cheered except when they saw Donny was OK. The cheers weren't because he wrecked. Contrary to the boards here, the local fans, in general, care for driver safety. Finally, a beer was thrown some moron who was verbally berated by quite a few fans, who let him know how much of an idiot he was. Security escorted him out and hopefully won't let him back. Again, thankfully no one got hurt. Good luck to Donny getting back out there.

This never would have happened if Schatz didn't get blown by off the start. But, I was there and at the track it looked like Schatz drove up, but now from the video it looks like Monteith drove down.

How did I know this thread would turn into the usual, "Those fans in PA are terrible" hijacks from posters that have never even been to PA? The first lap crash was a racing accident; don't really think any driver can be blamed for the incident. That being said, you wouldn't think such a violent crash could happen at the Grove, since the track is so slow. LOL

Being from PA and seeing this live, as well as watching video of the incident, I have to chalk it up to being a racing deal if anything. Anybody who wants to blame the 15 needs to take off the Posse blinders.

Driving off the LR - especially at a track like WG, you're gonna move up whether you like it or not. Doubtful a guy behind and with full vision would intentionally move down at a high speed joint like that. Maybe aero played into it as well. Close quarters and high speeds. Racing deal. Glad they're all OK.

I have very little stomach for drunken morons that think these drivers are just objects, no matter where it occurs.
Very well said, ricci!
Too many fans need to check their "I B A Drunk" card at the front gate!

Someone throws a beer can at a guy who just takes a wicked ride,,,,This guy should of had his ass kicked on the spot. Whether you like Schatz or not nobody deserves that! Maybe they need to ban alcohol at the Grove if the people can't control their drinking. I enjoy drinking beer and watching a good race as much as the next guy but that is totally out of control, and about as low of a blow as it gets.On a better note congrats to Rahmer he hade em covered no doubt.

Gotcha...it was close racing, like I said earlier, it's a sprint car, there shouldn't be a "lay back" period and they ended up in the same spot. I was just defending the fans as a whole from PA, the ones on the board that get everyone excited are being so sarcastic I can barely imagine people fall for it, I don't know them, that's just obvious.
There's always gonna be an asshole, and as was noted, the one last night was removed, probably permanently, and if he doesn't feel like a total ass for the abuse he took from fans on his own side he just is..a total ass.
