Burt Choate has been in contact with the previous owner, and the Garfield County Fair Board with a proposition to buy former Enid Speedway Park llc. After a meeting later on this week if all goes as planned racing could resume as early as Saturday May 15th at 7:00 p.m. We hope to have more details for everyone as this unfolds.Nothing is set in stone however it is looking promising for future racing at Garfield County Fairgrounds. 580-716-3998 or 580-716-2998 if more information is needed.

This is what Enid needed a new promoter I hope the fairboard says yes and lets Burt have the track. Now that the old promoters are gone its a fresh start for who ever gets it even if its not Burt but all local drivers need to give the new promoter a chance so we don't end up like SFS. I have no problems with any other possible promoter so for me its only nice words from now on since the old ones are gone. Good luck to who ever gets it and like I said lets all show up and give them the chance in the pits and stands.

The problem with any fairgrounds or city owned track and I've seen this very thing all over the country. When you get a guy leasing it that is smart enough, shyster enough or maybe lucky enough to get racing up and going well, they always seem to want more of the money and pinch the guy out one way or another. When a business deal is between two men that can shake on things, you can fly horse turds but when you have to deal with a bunch of silly commissioners or fair board dumb asses in suits, you can forget the hand shake and just go on and start slapping each other at the get go. Just like OKC It would be nothing for them to spend 4 mil ( a simple drop in the bucket for them)to update the place, regardless of the money income. It just comes down to if they wont-to. No promoter in their right mind would lease a place to put on races. If you can't have a track that you put so much work into where you will have some sweat equity or some value to sell somewhere done the road, there just ain't enough money and way too much risk in the operation of a track otherwise.

Was wondering if Longpine is going to have anything to do with the track or is he going to be completely out of it?

Hopefully hes out completely along with alot of others that work there. What that place needs is some fresh faces and thing to be ran a little more fair. Maybe dust off the old black flag and put it to use and maybe the tech equipment and even the playing field up in some of these classes where guys are on a budget. Just my opinion though. Hell what do i know

I believe the black flag needs to be dusted off at a bunch of tracks. I saw it used this past weekend at Lawton and almost choked on my popcorn because I didn't even realize they still carried that flag to the flagger stand anymore.
Can I change my name to ModifiedFanRob?

that popcorn can be awfully hazardous and dangerous lol.
I think thats all a valid point Dustin. I too hope something gets going up there - and furthermore - hope all the cars that used to run there and stopped - go back and give the new promoter a real chance.
oh yeah - and bring NCRA back. might take a lil while. gotta crawl before you can walk but Enid without NCRA just doesn't seem right. Its the perfect thing for them to run - shorter drive for the kansas guys. And with the Oklahoma mod/sport mod foundation that NCRA/Chris Smith have built up very well down here - the shows would be fantastic. Get the Oklahoma guys and pull down the kansas ones as well. sky is the limit with Enid and NCRA. I hope something good happens

Man I hope they let you guys get the track. New ideas and new faces Im sure will get alot of people back to the track. I have alot of money tied up in my car just to get it back out there and I know alot of other people do to. I cant afford to go across the state to race some where else.
