Could someone please educate me on air bleeders? I know they let air out of the tires but why are they so important? While watching the KR JGibson said the 97 needed all green flag laps cause they didnt get the bleeder in after a tire change. Do they only bleed at slow speed? Does heat affect the air pressure that much?

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

RodinCanada,

Tire bleeders are designed to relieve the excess air pressure build up due to the standard heating of tires. Steady tire pressure results in a consistent car setup. To my knowledge, they bleed off excess pressure instantly or withing a certain amount of buildup which is very little. They are produced by various companies and are a great innovation to the sport. I’m sure others on here can go into more detail. I know Jeff Swindell has dedicated alot of R&R to his bleeder system.
