On my bucket list for this season.  More than likely will only do the last four races.  Would Mechanicsburg be centrally located?  If not, which location would be please?  Doing Air b n b so motels are out..Been wanting this trip for years, thanks in advnce

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Yes, Mechanicsburg/Carlisle would be pretty central to those 4 shows.

I'd say Carlisle or 'north Mechanicsburg' 17050 zip code. The I-81 corridor will get you to Port, S-grove and Hagerstown. Backroads or Turnpike to the Grove.

Definitely Carlisle, plenty of inexpensive motels, centrally located, & a scenic & relaxed back road to  Williams Grove (I think its Middelesex Rd?) Look at hotels.com

If you take Pa. Turnpike, its tolls, traffic & semis. Middlesex Rd is pretty farms & roller coaster hills. Pa. country side is beautiful, IMHO

Nice back roads to Port Royal too. Look at a map, take your time, pick the smaller roads

thanks for the advice. like the backroads suggestion...going to do 4-5 shows and do plenty of sight seeing.  suggestions on the sight seeing?  Air b n b is much better than motels, private homes and the like.  have a few for Mansfield coming up.  old barn converted with rooms on acreage in Ohio.  will probably do the same in PA

Sightseeing is another whole topic, but has anyone mentioned EMMR ( dirt track museum not too far fron the Grove?) I think its as good or better than Knoxville museum, & if you're lucky, good chance Lynn Paxton could be there to answer questions, BS & tell stories. I was there one rainout day, started asking him stuff, about 10 people gathered round & he more or less gave us a guided tour.

I like to get some exercise every day, so I usually hit Lake Gifford Pinchot & swim, right between WG, Susky (whats it called now.. BAPS?) & EMMR. Maybe 45 minutes from the Grove, really close to BAPS, maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Or you can just hang out & barbeque

Gettysburg isn't far from Lincoln..... Hershey was disappointing, they don't even make chocolate there any more, more like a chocolate theme park. I'm not too jazzed about "Pennsylvania Dutch Country" either, lots of tourists, traffic & SLOW driving behind wagons....

Don't have the schedule in front of me, not sure which tracks you're hitting, but driving around back roads is a pleasure in itself!

Just looked at the schedule. If it was me (& it will be) I prefer tracks first part  of SW, depends on what you like. WG, Port & Selinsgrove are big, fast tracks. The one time I went to Hagerstown was slow as molasses, huggy bottom. Plus my dirt track hero from the 1960s had career ending & eventually lethal injuries there... never going back. First part of SW has the Grove, & 3 smaller tracks that are often more competitive (IMHO) : Path Valley, Lincoln & Grandview. Path is a really pretty drive in the hills, Cowan's Gap Reservoir is a great place to swim about 1/2 hr. away...

At hershey you just didn't go to right place. Yes they do make chocolate there just outside the park. They have however like it seems everything else have moved some production to Mexico.

If you get to the tracks early take the time to walk around the campgrounds and have a beer or soda with the locals. Contrary to what you read on here we aren't all assholes lol.

Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs, Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle. Hershey Park, Zoo, Chocolate World, and Gardens. Ride the “Pride of the Susquehanna” riverboat in Harrisburg. Gettysburg Battlefield Park. King’s Gap Environmental Education Center. Pinchot State Park...picnicing, swimming, and boat rental. I think there are winery and craft bear tours out of Carlisle as well if that’s thing. Enjoy your trip.
