The World of Outlaws returns to Farley, Iowa in 2018!   Great news for me, right here it the "Sprint Car Dead Zone Capital of the World"!!!!!

The last time they came was 2004------and it was called for rain just as I was pulling into the parking lot.  (man did we tie one on that night when we got back close to home)

The track has changed from a small 1/2 mile (7/16?) to a 3/8.  The last 2 times I have been since the new configuration the racing was unbelievable!!!!  Sure, it was an all fender show, but the cars were fanned 2, 3, and 4 wide every race!  I cannot wait to see the WOO hit this track!

Happy to see (new track owners) Roger Simon and his partners getting the Outlaws back here!

Cool beans! I have not been there in years, had no idea they changed the track! I'll be there for sure...it's not even December yet and we've got tickets for all 4 days @Knoxville, planning trip for 3 days at Jackson and now Farley. It's going to be a great summer Smile

Is it going to be around the National time of year or another leg of the tour?

Friday, June 22.  Then in Knoxville for the 29th and 30th.  Not sure what's going on with the normal Beaver Dam visit?

Beaver Dam is only a few hours from Eastern Iowa I thought. I’d assume beaver Dam is  that Saturday June 23 like usual.

You are probably correct.  This year was the first year in a while they ran Beaver Dam the 2nd to last Saturday of the month.  It had been the last Saturday of the month the few years prior.

That would be a good two days for me.  About an hour and 20 minutes in either direction for me (give or take)

I really like Beaver Dam. Was a good show both times I went.

Saw my very 1st World of Outlaw race at Farley. (Doug Wolfgang was injured from a crash earlier in the week so he was not there).

I remember the track was high bank and they had to Cowboy it through the corners as is was really pulling up some ruts.

Got me hooked though. Someone there told me about Knoxville and have been going ever since.

Let me guess,  rain threatning all night and the show got over in the nick of time....probably had to winch a few haulers out of the pits after.    Steve K won and possibly one of the Dude's first races after he took some time off for a medical issue?

Oh yeah,  Wild Child lived up to his moniker when he went for a ride in turn 3

Watching Jac on a heavy and rough cowboy up track usually goes one of two ways. Either he wins it or it ends something like what you described but either way, he's worth whatever you paid to get in. Amazingly, after all these years, he's still the Wild Child. Anyway, glad to see the WoO going to a new place. Living in Central PA, it's hard to imagine living in a sprint car dead zone because we're so smothered with it in these parts but that's the kind of places where fans are made. I've taken many people who only ever saw late models & various forms of stock cars to sprint car races and all of them are now 100% all about sprint cars because nothing on earth compares. Hope it turns out to be a great show for you guys.

It is tough to be in my particular area.  I am 70-80 miles east of Farley.  I could go to Burlington, IA (3 hours away), Knoxville (4.5 hours away), Beaver Dam (2 hours away--when sprints are in the house).  Probably the closest that runs some shows is Angell Park and that is still 1-45 min. away--and pretty limited schedule.

We just have to wait and be patient for a big show to come around and hope and pray our wives didn't already schedule vacation during that night!!!!!!!

Pretty pumped to see WOO at Farley and then hopefully run up to Beaver Dam the next night!!  Then, Knoxville the next weekend?  We'll see what mama says!!

Boohoo.... You think you have it bad?

I'm gonna start a "Posse vs. the World" debate in reverse: whose area is WORSE

Try living in Denver, Colorado, the TRUE " "Sprint Car Dead Zone Capital of the World"!!!!

Last couple of weeks I've been agonizing over whether to drive 1,000 miles (2 day drive for me) to USAC races in California.... I know, its crazy

Check out the location of Nipawin Saskatchewan. Closest sprint track 8 hrs west. Or 8 hours east or 8 hours south. 8 hrs north they have reindeer races but no road to get there to watch. We do have google tho.  And the WoO only go to Nodak once a season.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

The Rev is right.   The two CO tracks that run 305 sprints once or twice a month are 90-120 minutes away.   Last winter a few of the drivers told the promoter that if the track was good enough to run 3 wide, they were going to leave it on the trailer.     To see anything else requires at least a 10 hour drive to Eagle NE or Lakeside KC.

That does suck!

I'm not trying to say it's terrible for me---cause I can drive to see shows when they come around.  However, If I just lived 2 hours in any direction, I could be close to regular racing.  I settled right in the middle Smile

According to the Colorado IMCA RacesaverIMCA Sprint Car page on Facebook, they have started a series for 2018 to run at 3 tracks; El Paso County Raceway, Phillips County Raceway and I-76 Speedway. They plan on 8-10 races over the season.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Sorry to be negative, but El Paso County has been total huggy bottom follow the leader every time I've gone there. Don't know if its because the area is so dry or track prep crew isn't that good.

I'd love to see them improve, nice facility, but I'm not holding my breath.....

Did you mean to say "if the track WASN'T good enough"? otherwise I don't get it.....

I spend the summers with good ole Mom in Connecticut. There are 2 dirt tracks that occasionally run sprints about 2 hrs.away in NY state, but they're both follow the leader modified tracks. Never saw a good race there yet. Its a shame....
I'd much rather drive 5 hrs. to Posse Country for the good stuff.....

It was funny, the promoter posted a wingless sprint 3 wide clip on his Facebook page with the caption of something like "Guys,  I need you do this,  the track WILL be good enough"   One or two drivers posted that if they wanted to race 3 wide,  they will leave their cars on thte trailer.  This is the same group that threatened to boycott if he ran an unsanctioned 305 non-wing special at the end of the 2016.   The promoter likes a dry slick,  no doubt about, every race I have seen at I76 and El Paso has been that way. but I am not sure they have enough cars to really put on a good competitive show....it seems like a lot of driving around fast and not much racing each other.     Funniest (not haha) thing I seen at a track was an end of fthe year midget show when the watertruck went out during a lap 4 caution.   They stayed yellow while the water truck made 3-4 laps and I am not positive but I would bet that a few drivers might have gotten an accidental soaking.

EPSG,  I am pretty sure that this group was IMCA Race Saver in 2017 as well.   There were a few guys that came out to your big Labor Day shindig.   (I waited for a week later because non-winig 410's and open Late Models > a whole crap load of 305 cars but I understand that show was pretty darn good too.
