What is my generation doing wrong? When a 50, maybe 60 year old, is still traveling the world and making boys of men?

Good to see Sammy win again, but race wasn't so thrilling. Best part was a close challenge mid race by local boy Jake (?) Bubak.... didn't last long, tho
This was the 2nd easy win from the front that I've seen Sammy pull off this season (Allstars race in Middletown, NY) Its cool to see the old guy still kicking ass, but also a bit sad in a way: remember back in the days before mega-salaries for athletes, when an over the hill major leaguer would linger in the minors for a few years? making a few $$$ & showing the young guys how its done..... like that
I have to look up ASCS format, was curious how Sammy got the pole after finishing 2nd in his heat.... someone said they base it on fast time in hot laps?

OK, I looked it up: Heats lined up by random draw, passing points determine Feature lineup, with redraw for top 8. Sammy got lucky (???)
Yes, its Jake Bubak, he made it interesting, I would have been amazed to see a Colorado guy win. I didn't even know he drove 360s, have only heard of him in 305s & Rocky Mountain midgets... wonder whose car it was?

OK, more research: Jake has raced Chili Bowl, 410s, 360s & 305s this season
Looks like 9 wins in 305s, one other in 360s

The ASCS is like the retirement series (both swindells, herrara, wayne johnson) for guys who still want to race full time.

Jake always looked pretty racey at Knoxville. He is usually better in a 360 in his own stuff. His 410 ride at Knoxville probably wasn't capable of winning a normal race with Madsens, Brown, and McCarl there due to equipment. Thats typical of most cars at Knoxville. It usually comes down to 5 cars every week. One in a while one might get lucky and have a good night but that isn't the norm.

What generation are you? If you are anywhere from 16-45 years old, your generation isn't doing anything wrong. Of the thousands of sprint car races in the country this year, Sammy wins 5 or 6 and now every other age group sucks. Ok, I guess.
