BACK TO BACK MSCS EVENTS ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Haubstadt, IN - May 22, 2017 -  Preparation is already underway for
the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series to be racing in back to
back events on Memorial Day Weekend.  Racing on Saturday evening May
27th will be at the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN.  The
series will be racing again on Sunday night May 28th at the Tri-State
Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.
The weekend schedule provides the perfect solution for anyone who
enjoys traveling to race tracks on holiday weekends.  Non-wing sprint
car racing on the dirt continues to provide very exciting events and
has become a tradition in Indiana.  Both of these racing programs
will be capped off with features that pay $2,500 to win.  With two
top winning performances, a driver could collect $5,000.
This is the first of only three weekends during the 2017 season that
MSCS will conduct back to back racing events on the same weekend.  It
will happen again on the July 1st and 2nd holiday weekend and for a
final time on August 11th and 12th.
At Saturday night’s MSCS “ Memorial Weekend Special” at Putnamville
the grandstands will open at 4:30 P.M. with warm ups and group
qualifying beginning at 6 P.M.  Racing begins at 7 P.M. Eastern Time.
On Sunday night MSCS will compete in the “Memorial Weekend Classic”
at Haubstadt.  Warm ups and group qualifying begin at 6 P.M. and
racing will follow at 7:30 P.M.  Tri-State Speedway is located in the
Central Time zone.
______________________________

Carson Short has assumed the lead in MSCS points as the series heads
to Putnamville.  He is the third different points leader this season.
He leads 3 time MSCS Champion Brady Short by just 4 points.  This is
the third consecutive season that Carson has been a strong challenger
to win the series championship.
Brandon Morin, Kyle Cummins, and Dakota Jackson make up the remainder
of the top five in MSCS points.  Brandon Mattox leads the second five
including Jarett Andretti, Chet Williams, Max McGhee, and James
Lyerla.  Ben Knight currently leads the rookie drivers as they
compete to become the MSCS Rookie of the Year.
Sprint car racing and great dirt track racing remain synonymous.
MSCS has held three features so far in 2017.  Thomas Meseraull, Chris
Windom, and Carson Short have a win each.  Short won his first career
MSCS feature May 13th at Tri-State Speedway.  There have not been any
repeat winners as yet.  It was Meseraull who won the Memorial Weekend
event at LPS in both 2016 and 2015.  Chase Stockon won the Classic at
Tri-State last season and Brady Short was the victor there in an
outstanding 2015 season.
______________________________

The race will be on when the green flag drops both nights!  This
season MSCS has introduced the practice of using double file
restarts.  The decision was made in an attempt to provide fans with
an even more exciting program.  Restarts now provide added
opportunities for racers who are working the field to improve on a
finish.  However it is the leader who has the option to choose an
inside or outside first row starting position.
