I know a guy whose wife is involved in business with Chuck Brennan, doesn't work for him but does business with him. Sounds like he'll be closing down the pawn shop, the radio station, but will still keep the gun range open. That's according to the guy I know. I wouldn't be surprised if he's right.

Sadly, he told everyone (including the media) that he had already raised the $$ to keep the Rock & Roll Academy open for 10 years and was close to having it funded for 20.

If that were true, where did that $$ go?

This is bad for the kids in that area (this is the one thing he was doing that was a positive in the community from all accounts).

If he does indeed close down the pawn shop and radio station that means the Dollar Loan Centers were making all the $$$ to keep the other businesses afloat (which is kinda scary, the Pawn Shop and the Radio Station should be profitable as stand alone entities).

The Raceway could be profitable (it always was in the past or how did it stay open all those years), as well I think.

To use a comparison, The Iowa Speedway in Newton probaly sold for under $15million when NASCAR bought it a few years back which was considerably less than the estimated $50-70 million spent to build it.

The guy never should have bought Husets Speedway in the first place.

To date, CB has paid  every invoice due in regard to the racing aspect as far as I know. except the refund to his most loyal customers.  The ones that bought season passes last year..

What a shame, that may have been my only shot at seeing Winger in concert.

He doesnt owe me much.  The original agreement was that if you purchased season passes last year, any  rain date or cancellation of any kind would be deducted from this next years pass. Although they were pro rated over the cost of the pass, it was  honorable, if you ask me.

Then, when he started giving away free nights, mid season, after much bitching by season pass holders, he indicated that he wasnt going to offer season passes for 2017 but every season pass holder would be recieving a cash  refund for every cancelled event and free night that he offered.

I dont know what the pro rated rate is, but there were like 6 or 7 events total that were either rained out, cancelled or free admission.   Something like that.  Id much prefer they race this season, and hope cooler heads will prevail..

To me, this would hurt the track more than any other decision (if it were to remain open in 2017).  FANS are the lifeblood of any racetrack, without them you're screwed.

While it's not a big $$ hitter and it doesn't bother you, what about the other season ticket holders?  Let's say they sold 1000 season tickets and no one has gotten a refund (yet) and 30% are pissed off about it.  If so, an upset customer generally tells 10 people about their dissatisfaction (not to mention how many people they tell), that means those 333 unhappy customers turn into 3663 people that are unlikely to visit you in the future.

This is why you see more an more retail and service companies responding directly to Facebook and Twitter when someone is upset.  1 upset customer reaches so many other customers it can destroy your business.

Hopefully Chuck will realize that he's acting childish and re-open the track, Rock & Roll Academy or the Events Center.  All of the venues (if ran correctly) can turn a profit yearly, or in the case of the Rock & Roll Academy can build a lot of goodwill in the community and be a great positive for his other businesses.

I got my check for 90.00 in the mail right away this fall in early November.  Might even have been late October.

Thats encouraging..   I had a mess up in my email account early on that I rectified mid summer.  Wonder if that affected the process?

It appears that the refund had in fact been issued.  Thanks Smatt for letting me know.  I just gotta track it down now.  It indeed was a email// address glitch.

Incorrect. We have refunded season ticket holders for all rainouts and nights we gave away free tickets to everyone in attendance.
