Halfway through the race they start playing music and then they break in to a weather report during the last five laps of the race. Idiot studio announcer says the need to check with the race broadcaster to see if races are canceled. From top to bottom that place is run by morons. I'm sure they'll have an excuse, they always do....

I will give them a break on this one.   The in-studio engineer obviously is not in direct contact with the guys at the track.   Most likely the rookie working late on a Thursday pushed the wrong button trying to get a live mic and broadcast the warnings.

The weather is/was very severe,  they gotta take care of those within broadcast range before all of us in cyberspace.

There was a very severe line of thunder storms that rolled into their broadcast area. It prompted a series of warnings from the National Weather Service they are required to air. That believe it or not was more impirtant to cover than you listening to The Nationals

KNIA does a great job and provides an invaluable service to us who enjoy listening to the live broadcast.  How can it get any better than having a local radio station and local community that supports whole heartedly the racetrack and has to break into the briadcast to provide important safety information that campers and families with kids need to know to stay safe in Knoxville tonight.   Anybody that has the opinion of the first poster needs to grow up, glad i'm not in junior high anymore.   Quit being a douche, you left a very poor impression of your character.

How much did you pay to listen to them?  You can always purchase a ticket and go watch it live, nobody on this planet is here to please your Nationals FREE listening pleasure!

Ok so I never reply to these but I will just say this.  One..Do you have ANY idea how much work and time we put into these broadcasts ?  I didn't think so...Two. We are a small market LOCAL radio station that has built our brand for YEARS being the one to count on  for local info especially severe weather. we have a duty to our broadcast area when severe weather strikes   Trust me as the broadcaster that is in the booth at races I would've loved to finish calling that race but we had a duty to our local audience as well as everyone in the area for weather info.  As far as the music popping on that was bump of a button.   So.  If you'd like to come call the races or run the radio station feel free.

The residents of Knoxville and the surrounding area's lives and property more important than us hearing every lap of a Sprint Car race?  What nerve!  How dare they!  (sarcasm alert)

KNIA does a great job. All of the guys are great to listen to and I am always glad I can listen to them when on vacation anywhere via the internet. Their pre and post race interviews, predictions, and summaries have been great to listen to all week. Keep it up guys!

Wow, some people don't have a clue. I happen to be good friends with a couple of the guys that do the broadcasts and they both expressed that it is not as easy as it sounds. This is not MRN. They are guys that love the sport and try to have some fun bringing you free coverage. If you were listening last night, Jaime and Judd were in a very small, very hot room at the HOF with race monitor as their only way of keeping updated. Doesn't sound like ideal conditions to work in. Yet they did the best they could. It is easy to sit at home and do your arm chair racing but to broadcast it live with all the action happening so fast, it is never easy. Plus Chad and Judd don't even get paid. They just love doing it because they are die hard race fans. I am glad they do it and I look forward to listening every night.

On the same page here with most.  I was listening (as I had been from 7ET on for FREE) and heard the music cut it.  I figured someone bumped a button.  Then they went to the station for the severe weather alert.  I wasnt mad at all, listened to the severe weather alert knowing eventually that at least they'd circle back to the track and they did.  I got the final rundown and went to bed.  KNIA does an awesome job every year and I enjoy listening to the coverage...for FREE via their app.  Seriously they do an Awesome job every Saturday and especially during Nats.

Agree with this guy.  I think it is amazing I can listen to sprint car races on my phone.  When I was a kid we were lucky to have Wide World of Sports broadcast sprinters once a year.

Well, since they've ruined your life, you probably should ask for a full refund of what you paid for a free broadcast.

Two things to add then I'll bow out.  I like to have the Knoxville results page in a separate browser tab which works great if you're listening on a computer.  Second point, I was keeping an eye on the radar and saw all the warnings.  Wasn't at all surprised when they announced on the race broadcast that they might have to interrupt.
