One of the true racers who could built it,fix,it and drive it.Terry and his sons inherited many of his talents. He was a one of a kind and will be missed. His stories about racing when things were a little wilder were entertaining. He helped us some and knew what it took to go faster and was a real character.

So sad to hear, Mr. McCarl was a throwbackto the days when sprint car racers were real men, would race you hard on the track and help you fix your car off the track. His wise words of wisdom and story telling helped hundreds of young men turn into racers over the years. With the loss of Mr. Trostle and now Lenard Knoxville will be a little less smart this race season, God bless him....

I remember him towing to Winnipeg speedway sometime in the 80's.....and the announcer telling us he drove almost 800 miles to race with us that night. As a kid I thought that was something else. He kicked everyone's ass that night lol

It is always tough when you lose a family member and loved one , especially your father or mother who bring you into this world . And when you lose your idol or mentor that makes even tougher . My deepest condolences to Terry , Lori and family , they are nothing but a class act , always took time to let me know I existed as a fan and person . My best always to the Mc Carls .

Watched Lenard race many, many times back in the day. Simply put he was a racer and one pretty tough dude. Always friendly to us! My condolences to the entire McCarl family. The memories of the past for many race fans here in the midwest has just become a bit more refreshed, and saddened at the same time.

RIP Lenard. Condolences to the McCarl family. Enjoyed spending time with Lenard when he was helping Frank Kerr. One thing was for sure if you didn't want an honest answer you better not ask the question. Lenard told it like it was . He will be deeply missed by sprint car racing. God Speed.

Lenard was the same type of racer as Bob Trostle, Hank Smith Dave Van Patten, Bill Smith and some of the others that put forth the effort to race and entertain all of us, year after year. Who knows where sprint car racing would be if they had not.
Lenard you were a "good one".

Sad news about Lenard. He was a local hero from a long time back and I'm fortunate to say that I got to see him race a lot of times at a lot of different places. I used to stop by his house and pester him when he was out in his garage working on the car and he was always very gracious to me, as was Judy. My condolences to the entire McCarl family and thanks for all the great memories and stories, Lenard. You were one of a kind. God speed.

Sorry, I'm catching-up here.
A blast from the past: was Mr. McCarl associated with the Cahill Bros-McCarl team of the early, mid-80's. That team came east with the outlaws in mid-summer way back when...started with a good mid-west/Knowville driver (I think.....) who's name escapes me now unfortunately and finished the swing with Jimmy Sills in the seat....maybe??????
They may have been around longer than that swing.....it's just too darn long ago, dammit!
