This Weekend: The Rumble at Red River, March 11th-12th!

Wichita Falls, TX (03/07/16) by DarinShort.com. About a month ago, Red River Speedway (RRS) near Wichita Falls, TX announced a new 2-day event on March 11th and 12th called The Rumble at Red River. It is now race week, so here's everything a racer or fan needs to know to stay in the loop!

The Rumble will feature two separate complete shows for the Texas Outlaw Modified Series (USRA legal Modifieds), plus a two-day special event for IMCA SportMods ($1,500/win), IMCA Stock Cars ($1,200/win; plus RRS-legal Pro Stocks are invited) and Mini Stocks ($500/win; plus Mod4 legal cars are invited).

This is the second weekend of season opening events at Red River Speedway now that the Red River Rumble last weekend is in the books. Thank you again to the fans and the 140-some sprint cars, midgets and 600's that were a part of the event.

The pit area opens by 3pm nightly, with the grandstands opening by 6pm on Friday and 4pm Saturday. Races are set to start at 8pm on Friday and 6pm Saturday. All pit passes for all ages are $30 nightly. There are no entry fees due to RRS for the SportMods, Stock Cars or Mini Stocks.

The Texas Outlaw Modified Series published purse, entry fee, rules and procedures are in effect. Modified drivers can click http://www.TexasMods.com for their rules, while all other divisions can visit http://www.RRSpeedway.com for all details.

Regarding the Modifieds, each night will be a complete racing program, including heat races, B- and A-feature. Fans can expect to see drivers such as Billy Brierton, Bobby Malchus, Brandon Watson, C.A. Nix, Chad Ewell, Chadd Howell. Charlie Smith, Chase Allen, Chris Huckeba, Clyde Dunn Jr., Cody Smith, Colby Smith, Dale Miller, Danny Florence, Harold Winton Sr., Jay Baggett, John Nemetz, John Webb, Josh Landers, Logan Robertson, Michael Baker, Michael Daniels, Mike Dillard, Sam Cox, Shawn Gammage, Tommy Fain, Triston Dycus, Troy Taylor, Wesley Veal plus a host of others.

The SportMods, Stock Cars and Mini Stocks will run qualifying events on Friday night, consisting of heat races and qualifying feature races. An estimated 8 cars, in each division, will lock in from those events for Saturday night, with all remaining cars running B-features.

Saturday night, the SportMods, Stock Cars and Mini Stocks will run B- and A-features (no heats; all cars will race). Any driver not racing on Friday night in these three divisions will automatically be placed at the tail of a B-feature on Saturday night, and if that driver makes the A-feature event, they will race for full purse. If they do not transfer, they do not receive non-qualifier money (since they missed the Friday race).

A great purse structure is in place for The Rumble at Red River. Again, there is NO entry fee due for these divisions. Here are the championship night purse structures:

IMCA SportMods: $1,500 - 1,200 - 1,000 - 800 - 600 - 500 - 400 - 300 - 250 - 200...to start. All two-day non-qualifiers (must race both nights) receive $50.

IMCA Stock Cars (RRS Pro Stock legal cars are invited to race in this division): $1,200 - 1,000 - 800 - 600 - 500 - 400 - 300 - 250 - 200...to start. All two-day non-qualifiers (must race both nights) receive $50.

RRS legal Mini Stocks (and RRS rules Mod4 legal cars are invited to race in this division): $500 - 300- 200 - 180 - 160 - 140 - 120 - 100 - 80 - 60...to start. All two-day non-qualifiers (must race both nights) receive $50.

We are fully aware that there is a storm system rolling in tonight and will let everyone know if there are any weekend schedule adjustments required from it - once time goes by and we see what does - or does not - materialize. So we all have to patiently wait and see.

In addition, the RRS Modified, SportMod, Pro Stock and Mini Stock divisions will receive their track awards from 2015 at this event.

If you are a racer that has questions about this event, feel free to leave Kevin a message at [email protected] or at 817-988-7433.

An event flyer is posted at the track website and on Facebook.
