I cannot for any reason figure out why they have allowed a 2 inch wicker bill for this year. It makes absolutely no sense at all. If you thought that "aero" was important for the past couple years then what do we have now? There will be literally no passing now unless you hit lapped traffic. Schatz showed the first night at Volusia why he is the best "driver" in the land right now but once the track was opened up it was a big parade until the race was over. I am not sure who sat down and said "Yep, 2 inch wicker bills will free those dang cars up. Yep, that's the answer," but whoever it was has no clue at all. Was this a way to try and get the guys that can't run a dry-slick track a better shot at beating the 15 car or what? It is still disrupting the air more than ever before. But from the pictures I have seen down in Florida, no one is running them anyway so maybe they will be mute in very short time. Can someone offer a rational explanation as to why they are now approved?

Because Schatz feels that he lost 15 shows last year due to not having a wickerbill, they want him to get 50 in 2016!
do it in the dirt

If no one is running them, what's the problem, Einstein?

I believe the thinking was that with the flat wings & small or no wicker the teams were standing the wings up at at more angle creating more turbulence. They were thinking & hoping a bigger wicker and less angle would help the car following. Whether it works out that way we shall see. A big fast 1/2 mile like volusia tends to be a parade.

As fast and tacky as Volusia is, it is probably not the best gauge for reeling up the cars. June, July and August when it's dryer will be a better measure of this rule in my opinion.
Last night was hard on motors with perfect air conditions to scream the motors. It was also brutally cold!

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of this. So you are saying Schatz was the one that lobbied for this rule? Please show me where he spoke of this just to clear it all up for the rest of us. While your at it, please get a hold of Tony and the All-star crew to let them know how displeased you are with the non-points races in Florida.

First off do you own or drive a car? The WOO have not had a race yet, are the All-Star rules the same on wickker bills? Also the All Stars are alot of week end racers , you can not expect them to race in Florida for points. Why worry about it? His name is Albert Einstien.

How about we at least wait until they race on a variety of track sizes, configurations and surfaces until we start bitching about the wicker bills. Volusia was fast and heavy last night and judging from the highlight video, it was still a decent race. Besides, if the 2 inch wickerbills are that bad, no one will run the damn things. There's no rule saying that they have to run ONLY a 2 inch wickerbill. They can run anything between nothing and 2 inches but first lets just give it a little time before passing judgement. We're only 2 races into the season so far.

We are really 7 races into the season so far. Many teams were running the new wing config. at Winter Heat in January. It too was a very fast, but smaller track, and very little passing taking place there. It does I believe effect close racing, and it appears that the lead cars if they make their way to the tail end can pass as long as they can maintain a run on the field. If they loose the run, the passing stops. We had the 2" wickerbill, but I think more time is needed to really figure them out.

I forgot about Cocopah but still, we haven't seen near enough yet to call it one way or another. Worth noting, Schatz won from 10th tonight. Just like last year, the 15 car keeps moving forward and picking up W's. It may be harder to pass than it used to be but I still maintain that if more teams focused as much on making their program better with what they already have as they do lobbying for rules to make them better, Donny might have a lot more competition out there.

I could not agree more with your thought. I like rule changes myself, stirs the pot a bit. At the end of the day, whoever has done the best job with their package(car), a good driver will get it to the front! Schatz and team are doing the best currently, look not only at the wins, but the reliability!

Donny did say last night after going from 10th to first in 20 laps that his team led by Rick Warner really got it together and that they did a ton of work on their shocks. He never mentioned the rule changes. That boy can drive, just sayin'.
