SEMA to oppose action as threat to modified racecars and parts suppliers

WASHINGTON, PRNewswire — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a regulation to prohibit conversion of vehicles originally designed for on-road use into racecars. The regulation would also make the sale of certain products for use on such vehicles illegal. The proposed regulation was contained within a non-related proposed regulation entitled “Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles-Phase 2.”

Don't disagree one bit, but it would be best to make sure all information available is known rather than just small tidbits.

Only Spec 410s nothing more nothing less.......... and people think I'm narrow minded.  Hundreds of race tracks would close without entry level class revenue.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Now that I think about it, I concur with StanM and FORD97. If that means no more of that garbage, I'm fine with it. However if you read the article, it seems as if nothing is changing except maybe the wording. I don't think I've ever heard of the feds coming and shutting down a hobby stock race

A guy wants to race but can't spend thousands of dollars so he runs a hobby stock. You want to eliminate that?  It must be so easy to watch from your ivory tower in bleachers.

You want to spend $40 to watch 22 360s then do away with the hobby stocks and outlaw hornets

I don't understand all the hate vs other kinds of racing (excluding electric powered vehicles). These are the blue collar workers who love racing gas powered cars in the dirt. I see alot of common ground here and alot would race sprints or LMs if they had the money. If they get good and fall on good times or high dollar sponsorships they often end up there. They also bring some new fans to the sport giving all classes exposure and help fund from the back gate as well.

Where does the EPA stop after this? Seriously. Its just one step closer to this happening to sprint cars. Pretty soon electric powered cars will be all that can race even though they apparently leave a worse carbon footprint or whatever if you buy into the crap the left/the media try to feed us all the time.

Global warming won't end this world before God returns. In fact many studies have proven global warming is a myth. They just never get the liberal media to present these ideas to the masses.

Wow, I didn't know they erected ivory towers in the infield or I'd have been sitting in one for years.  Fact is if you look at my photo gallery you'll see that I have taken countless photos of Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Hornets.  You'll probably also note that my race numbers have fallen off as I have cut back in an atempt to pay down debt before retirement.  http://www.gotomn.com/gotomn-photo-gallery.htm

Since getting into my mid 60's I have backed off on weekly shows that include five or six low budget classes just to watch 18-20 360's race for fifteen minutes out of a five or six hour program.  As you can see by the number of entry class photos I did my pennnace and have earned the right to sit those classes out.  I used to include pieces about them in a column I was writing as well.  So to sum it up, when I got on the north side of 60 I realized that life is getting shorter and that watching entry classes reminds me of golf.  It's a lot of fun to play for those who are into it but it's boring as hell to watch.  So if you want to take my place watching the shit boxes and give me shit about my ivory tower knock yourself out.  I have watched thousands of laps of that type of racing and try to avoid it at all costs now.

Maybe you should call those Mitia Morons "Bundy's" in Utah. They can do an armed take over of a Dirt Track and invite their idiot friends. Then say they are not leaving till they save the Street Stocks. Then The FBI can run Street Stocks 24/7 till they get bored of the bad racing and 100's of caution flags. They would leave in 8 hours on their own unhramed.

Global warning a hoax? please, typical teanderthal. Sorry to tell ya but your god is an imaginary friend. He isn't coming back because he was never here in the firts place. Read a good science book.

Thoughts and prayers that you evolve someday.

I'm not counting on it.

As usual, you nailed it. Right on the money sir. I too didn't realize there were ivory towers at the Central PA sprint car tracks. I'm gonna go find me a seat in one of those!
