LoneStar Sprint Smackdown/Points Opener Fires Off 2016 Season on February 13th

Kilgore, TX (1/13/16) by DarinShort.com. The 2016 LoneStar Speedway (LSS) schedule was released a few weeks back, and the first event of the season is going to be a wild one, with the 2nd running of the LoneStar Sprint Smackdown featuring $1,200 to win and $300 to start (24th) RaceSaver® IMCA Sprint Cars. The event will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 6pm. There is no entry fee due from any of the competitors in any racing division on race night.

This will also be the first time the drivers get to race on the even wider LSS surface - which is now a minimum of 70' wide at any point around the 1/3 mile high-banked track.

The Sprint Cars are just one of the focus points of the event, as it is the LSS 2016 Championship Points opener as well, with jumped-up purses in the high-powered Modifieds ($1,200/win), Limited Modifieds ($600/win) and Factory Stocks ($400/win). Rounding out the 5-division racing card will be the first points race for the new Front Wheel Drive (FWD) 4-Cylinder division.

Average climatology for Kilgore Texas on this date shows the sunset at 6:02pm (coinciding with our start time) and daytime highs of 65°. Assuming we have a 'average' day when the race date arrives, it should make for excellent racing conditions - as was the case in the 2015 running of this event.

Adult (ages 12-64) tickets to the LoneStar Sprint Smackdown are just $15, while ages 6-11 are $5, and ages 65+/Active Military can take in the full night of racing for just $13. All pit passes for all ages are $35.

Hot laps February 13th fire off at 6pm, with the Pits opening by 3pm and the Grandstands by 4:30pm. Draw Cut-Off at 5:15pm with the drivers Pit Meeting at 5:30pm. Drivers, please make sure to arrive on time so we can keep the show moving on schedule.

Driver registration for the LSS points divisions is required, and the $30 registration fee goes right back into the Drivers Point Fund - which has averaged over $10,000/year the past three years. Sprint Cars do not register.

There is an open practice/registration for any/all dirt track racing divisions set the previous Sunday, February 7th from Noon-4pm. All pit passes are $15, with free grandstand admission for race fans that want to check out the drivers brand new 2016 designs.

For a taste of the 2015 LoneStar Sprint Smackdown, please click here: https://youtu.be/ikh7XAxpRzg video notes: watch full-screen, H/D if you can, as you can really see a lot more detail, and make sure to read the posted video notes, as in this case - the race is never over til it's over...and then sometimes it's still not over! The 2016 edition of the LoneStar Sprint Smackdown should certainly be as exciting - so don't miss it!

There is also a schedule update. On Saturday May 21st will be the annual 'For the Love of Alex, Stop Texting and Driving' event at LoneStar Speedway, featuring a very special racing purse and much more. Details will be forthcoming soon and will be posted in all of our communication channels, such as ElbowsUp.com, MidSouthForums.com, HoseheadForums.com and at our Facebook page.
