Are they showing the whole week of the chili bowl live? If so,$60 is a bargain

If we could only get someone to broadcast the races on Periscope, it would be free.  I just happened to check out Periscope broadcasts from Tulsa yesterday, and there was a recorded race, not sure which one, green to checkered.

Under the 1 year subscription it says the Chili Bowl PPV is included.  Very cool.

Personally, I love periscope. It seems to provide a more "fans view" of the action and it's free. There lies the problem. We all know it's just a matter of time before somebody files a law suit to get it shut down or at least put limits on it.

No lawsuit will be necessary to kill periscope. I attended a football bowl game and before the game started the cell phone connection was just fine. When the game started I could not get a data connection and the people around me could not make connection. I think the cell providers shut down the transmitter closest to the game so no one could periscope.

Can anybody confirm is this for the whole week or just the Saturday finale or just the prelims only?  Since Dish dropped Mav, I am trying to find some way to watch the Saturday Night show.

Just Saturday night final. However most sports bars have direct tv  so you can watch there if you desire. Hope this helps.

Yeah but I kind of expected this, you couldnt have them broadcasting and racinboys at the same time.  Racinboys needs to stay around and if it was only $60.00 for a whole year including a week long Chili Bowl nobody would survive to be around next year.

Lucas wil be showing other live races as well. I know they already have 3-4 LOLMDS races planned in Febuary. So  they may have some ASCS shows planned and if you subscribe you should be able get these with no additional cost from the way I read it.

Not doubting you about the data not working at the game but if it was indeed shut off they would be violating the law. FCC regulations are strict and blocking cellular service like you suggest is very much illegal. My best guess is what you were experiencing was tens of thousands of people all with their phones connecting to a majorly over loaded cellular tower. Most people have data services on all the time, think social media updates. Before the game most likely few were there but at kickoff thats a different story.

As for periscope its not a new concept in the least. People have been live streaming bootleg tv for over a decade with web stream services. All periscope did was make it easy for the laypeople out in the world to be able to do it. If periscope somehow were to be shut down something else will definitely take its place. The genie is out of the bottle. Tracks need to embrace technology rather than fear it.

Cheers!

No, they will just broadcast the Saturday night portion that will also be on MAV. They say they will be covering other events live, but I haven't seen a list.

I can't recall the channel but I think it was the old Speed that used to broadcast Chili Bowl as part of my channel package.  We don't get MAV and probably never will and I'm not about to pay for broadcasts that I used to get for free as I'm trying to pay some plastic down so I can retire as planned.  I have patched a VGA cable from a laptop to an HDTV a few times and these PPV's drop and cut out on a fast cable internet connection, usually about two minutes before the green drops on the Feature.  PPV is too buggy and at least in my experience has been hit or miss with a variety of services.

I've had cable or satellite since 1985 and for years we watched racing shows such as the old Diamond P broadcasts, Thursday Night Thunder and all kinds of great racing programming.  Now here it's 2015 and if I want to watch dirt track racing I've got to go ale carte with internet PPV and fork over anywhere from $30 to $100+ in addition to what we're already spending on cable, high speed internet, Netflix and Amazon Prime.  That doesn't sit well with my accountant when she sees the Visa bill.  I can watch the NFL channel, NHL games, concerts and just about any other sport imaginable as well as all the NASCAR races as part of my cable package.  In the meantime dirt track racing has gone backwards in it's television coverage over the past 30 years to the point that it's pretty much non existent.

Someone mentioned sports bars but I can't think of any nearby that aren't obsessed with stick and ball where I could be guaranteed to see it.  If I could find somewhere nearby to watch this, hell, I'd even buy the beer.

Still looking for a place to watch this in and around the north Metro of St. Paul/Minneapolis.  Someone suggested going to a sports bar but that would be hit or miss up here in this stick & ball obsessed market.  I suppose it would be a good excuse to go bar hopping but it's going to be sub zero and windy so don't want to get in and out of the car too many times.  wink
