Since we are back to bitching about the Chillibowl purse and fords being superior... again. What do you think is the best innovation or invention in sprint car racing in the past 15 years? No right or wrong answers, just trying to get something interesting on the board again.

The styrofoam at Fremont Speedway, Ohio. Saw the same sprint hit it twice in the same race and drive away in both cases. It's easy to find the innovation on the cars and drivers but finding it at the track usually requires a super sleuth. Would love to hear of other innovations done to the tracks. Not to the cars. To the tracks.

Wheel and axle tethers? (not much real innovation in the last 15 years....which is a very good thing IMHO)

Jeff Swindells new electronic bleeders are pretty good compared to the mechanical bleeders. IMO

DMI's front hub assembly they came out with around 2005. CNC Aluminum over cast, and also a thread on bearing cap for easier maintenance.
The Qucik Disconnect brake lines improve time changing axles if need be and not needing to worry about rebleeding the brakes.
The Wrap around seat was started around 2001 and really helped protect drivers along with the bell housing sheiding.
Any form of torsion bar restraint system that improved upon all previous designs.
The sure-loc shifter came out around 2003 greatly reduced the chances for a car to jump out of gear randomly.

As far as Safety the Butler Seat is a pretty amazing innovation! I believe it is about 13-14 years old now! As far as performance it has got to be what ever Steve Kinser had that Donny Schatz now has that makes them so damn good.

The Musco lights at tracks are amazing as to what tracks used to have. If you look at a video taken before Musco lights and one after you will see what I mean. I would also think they have prevented some accidents.

Guess there are a lot solid innovations as stated here but I wish the rules would allow more innovations or creativity , like years ago to some extent .

Transponders=You can see starting positions on your computer long before they are announced. Time trials and lap times on your computer during race. Also electronic driver comunications so track can talk to drivers during pace laps and yellow and red flags.

I think the safe seats are without a question the best and most innovative in last 15 years.

I'm happy for all the innovations that are related to safety. That being said, I'm a big fan of sprint car appearances, so the innovations in the vinyl wrap process also ranks up there for me. There have been many awesome looking sprint cars over the years, whether they are sharper today than in the past is each persons opinion. But the last fifteen years and the last ten in particular the designers have really wrapped some beautiful sprinters.

Robert Altman could be the top innovation...followed by Tony Stewart buying Donny Schatz to be the top car owner.
3rd would be up for grabs between Todd Fisher retiring, Pink Hair Lady cutting Saturday nights and Selinsgrove changing to 360s.
