The Nebraska 360 Sprint Series had a meeting saturday November 21st, The biggest topic of interest was whether to join the Newly formed National Sprint league 360 series, after all of the parameters of the NSL were discussed and a question and answer period a vote was taken, It was a unanimous vote to not join the NSL series. So it is Business as usual, We should have a schedule out first part of December , Thanks all who came to the meeting and took time to call and voice there opinion .

Seems like a no brainer since Knoxville and MSTS, Sprint Invaders, and WOW in Missouri are not going to NSL rules.  It will be interesting to see if anyone will run gaskets at NSL shows.

What's the primary reason for these groups not going with NSL?  Is it because nobody wants to run the gasket?  Is it because nobody wants to have a situation during the first year where people who decide not to run the gasket are competing against people using the gasket?  Is the point fund payout not as good as it sounds?  Do these groups allow something other than ASCS legal heads which would mean purchasing new heads and gaskets?

From the outside looking in, the NSL point fund deal sounds pretty good.  The only thing I question is combining the engines with gaskets against engines without the gasket.

I heard a couple of drivers from the Sioux Falls/Nebraska area not interested for 3 reasons.

1)The gasket.  While in theory, the gasket is something that you can put in and take out, a good motor builder said that he would take the gasket and design the motor around it, which in turn would give that person a better, stronger motor, than what someone who puts it in and takes it out.  Guys don't want the hassle and expense of having 2 motors, one for the NSL and one for ASCS, Knoxville, etc.

2)The rumored regions vary alot.  It appears guys down south will have a much better opportunity to win the majority of the cash as they run more races and have longer seasons than the guys up north.  360 racing is still predominately working guys with 1 motor etc.  They cannot be taking off at the end of the northern season to head down to Texas to race.  Any "professional" guys are moving to 410's because the purse and points are just so good between Jackson, Badlands, Knoxville and random WoO races.

3)The NSL apparently didn't want to buy the 2 series in the midwest in the MSTS and Ne 360's.  If they would have purchased the series, then they could have forced them to do it, but given the option, those series don't want to implement further rule changes that cost any members money.

The only group I can speak for is The Ne. 360's,

There are alot of things that made it viable to stay as is.

If we went NSL, we would lose alot of our sponsorship dollars,  and what was left went to NSL

We compared last year as  if we were NSL to as we were. The numbers added that we were better off as we were.

Not trying to throw Mud at anything,  Just that NSL did not fit in with our group this year. The Idea of trying to make 360 racing cheaper is a good Idea and I do appreciate what NSL is trying to do.  The one question about buying us out, There never was that option, If you think about that exactly what is there to buy out?  We really have no assets, We don't own the race teams,  we have a computer and some hard working volunteer help.

From what I remembered Dennis saying, was the fact that NE360 had to provide a $10,000 "buy in" in either sponsorship $ or cash to become involved with NSL in the first place.......and that the NSL races would actually cost the tracks an additional $1500, or so, per event (which would have caused the series to lose some races) and finally, that even though the NSL paid an additional $500 more to win than NE360 ($1500-NSL, $1200-NE360) , they paid $100 less to start ($350-NE360, $250-NSL) were pobably the main reasons it was voted down by all cars in attendance and by phone.....with car counts being down, it was felt by many that it was more important to have more $$ through the field and to start than on top........IMO the only way to fix engine cost issues,  would be to start over with an "untouched" stock ASCS head with some valvetrain restrictions that may limit rpm and to not make changes to keep from things escalating again to where they are now (Emmett had the right idea in the first place, but each change,  and continued rules creep, allowed the costs to zoom out of sight)......but THAT will NEVER happen (mainly because so many have so much invested in modified heads), so we continue on......still looks like there will be plenty of 360 racing will be going on in our area.............SC
