Thought this topic could gin up some decent discussion here.  What's the best track(s) you've been to that doesn't have a large following, or haven't hosted national or larger regional races?

I submit Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA.  The semi-banked, black dirt 3/8"  mile has hosted many Sprint Invaders races, maybe a MOWA race, a few standalone 410 specials over the years, and a POWRi race 6-7 years ago that still might be the best race I've ever seen.  The track usually slicks off very nicely, and on good nights retains moisture around the bottom similar to Knoxville.

Any that that don't expect people to come, buy a ticket and get excited with a skating rink for a surface 2 seconds a lap slower than 15 years ago.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Waynesfield, Ohio. Yes, they host an All Star Speedweek race each June. I love that place.

Salina, Oklahoma is a nice track, very very fast, can have decent racing if the track is right. Facilities are great.

To add another layer to this thread, which tracks have the best racing but terrible facilities, and vice versa. Which are nice facilities but junk track surface and bad racing?

I agree with larsonfan.  Waynesfield is great.  The Speedweek date is my favorite race of the year.

Waynesfield is an exceptional racetrack. Wish they could somehow add some more seating so they could get a WoO show.

I'll vote for a Pennsylvania track that has hosted Outlaw events in the past, but not for quite some time now.... Grandview.  Great track for 410 racing.  The action is fast and furious and wheel to wheel.  I try not to miss any 410 shows there.  The All-Stars will be there in 2016 and that should be a great show with a number of really strong cars.

Ocean Speedway, Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville, CA. Tight 1/4 mile that rarely get's dusty. Most times it's tough to keep the front wheels on the ground, but occasionally dries out just enough to create a perfect surface with a low groove, a cushion and just enough slick to slide through the middle. 360 point racing on Friday nights and two KWS 410 shows each season. As far as facilities, I give it a 7 out of 10 so no complaints there. Very nice fairgrounds in a beautiful part of California.

Angell Park in Sun Prairie, WI. A historic midget track for decades, now running winged sprints, and running them really well. Really put on a great show.

I have no idea about "the best" cause I haven't been to all of them, but I really like Path Valley in Pa. Small track, lots of action, beautiful drive...

I tell people if there is a more exciting track to watch a midget race on than Belle-Clair Speedway,in Belleville,Illinois, then  I havent found it yet. It should be on every midget racing fans hitlist. I've had friends from as far away as Australia visit there, and no complaints yet!

We call the Saint Croix Valley Raceway in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, "the secret".  Has had a lot of improvements since changing hands a few years ago but still has a ways to go.  45 minutes from the nearest freeway and it's a Friday night track so that presents a challenge luring fans and drawing more working racers but racing has always been great there.  wink

Anthony, they could put another set of bleachers farther out towards 1. If they had 3 of the large bleachers that would do it.

Stan, same with Waynesfield. We used to say it was the best kept secret but it finally got out !!!

Like to see a USAC show there also.

Shoot, can't think of the name of the track but I went up there the other year for a 360 sprint race. It's in NY about 10-15 miles north of the PA border. The track is 1/3 mile paper clip shaped, very wide and very high-banked. The facilities are rustic but well kept.

Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.  The amenities are closer to a minor league ballpark than a dirt track.  Just wish they would fix that parking entrance on the north end.  That drop is a killer.

While it does host some major races.   IMHO Terre Haute is the most overlooked and under rated track there is.

Awesome and all balls and guts!
