ASCS has heavily promoted and had scheduled a $12,000-to-win race this Sunday in Sedalia at the Missouri State Fair Speedway called the High Roller Classic.

However, it seems that the lovely folks at Huset's Speedway and NSL have had a change of heart 72 hours before the event and have re-scheduled an NSL date at Huset's this Sunday.

Drivers who had previously had the ASCS race on their schedule include Danny Lasoski (in the Burch 1M), Terry McCarl and Brian Brown. This also could cause other scheduling conflicts (Bill Balog scheduled to run at Angel Park, probably a few others).

I have to assume all three will follow NSL points at Huset's. Maybe not Brown? But Lasoski is leading and McCarl is third.

Interesting tactic to me for a few reasons: first, the crowd at Sedalia really gets the shaft here. This for sure takes away three contenders to win and put on a hell of a show. Second, NSL is running Missouri again next Friday at Moberly - a 1 1/2 hour drive from Sedalia. Hope that Moberly doesn't take a beating at the gate because of pissed off people.

Third, and lastly, this might be the first direct shot from NSL at ASCS as they gear up to push up a 360 division next year. I think the NSL is great and has been great and is a move in the right direction, but I would be lying if I didn't say that this really seems like a shitty move. I don't know if this was a move NSL pushed initially or if the Payday Loan scumbag or existing regime at Huset's pushed it, but regardless, both had to agree with it.

Really shitty move in doing this, and think it's kind of hypocritical on NSL/Quiring's part given some of the statements that were given earlier this year.

Another thing I forgot to note, this has to cause some personal hell for Brian Brown considering FVP is the title sponsor of the NSL race and and Casey's/Impact Signs are title sponsors on the High Roller Classic.

So ridiculous.

shame on you Huset Speedway and NSL . I was going to go to Moberly but now I think I will save my money and stay home.

Be thankful you have so many options to watch a race.

It is absolute wasteland here in the Dallas area. We get the ASCS half a dozen times a year. Weekly shows are drawing about 15 to 18 sprints if you are lucky.

It is not the ideal situation I understand but, Brandon, SD and Sedalia are 7 hrs away from each other.

The NSL races at Spencer, IA only 1hr and 40 min from Brandon Saturday night seems like a much easier trip than the 6 hr trip to Sedelia.

Plus the Sedalia race is a ASCS National Tour race there will be plenty of sprinters to make you happy even if Brown and Lasoski don't show up.

Wasteland is a good term for racing in general in the D/FW area.   No weekly 360 or 410 racing, those 15 to 18 sprints are 305s that I don't care for, and Devils Bowl only has 8 or 9.    ASCS has been going downhill for the last few years despite not having any major competition in the 360 ranks.    Now they will have major competition and I don't think it bodes well for them.    However, if the NSL brings any 410 shows or better 360 shows to this area I'll be for it.

Maybe it was just the best date for both Husets & the NSL and it just happened to overlap a 360 race 7 hrs away and was not a "Promoting tactic" at all. I think you may be reading way to much into this that is not there!

Tod has proven he is trying to improve sprint car racing, not stamp out other races/sanctions.

If it was the best date available, why wasn't it selected weeks in advance? This decision has put some drivers in impossible decisions. Brian Brown had some tweets up about it earlier that he has since deleted and had one point replied to someone stating he was still running Sedalia.

It's very possible that they never considered the Sedalia race, but that's no excuse for what's happened. Rescheduling on 72 hours notice is a bad move to begin with, and doing so when half of the top six in your series' current point standings has already committed and been advertised to race elsewhere is inexplicable. Thumbs down to this move.

So I guess Tod should check to see if there is any 360 race in a 5 state area before he schedules a 410 race!

Anyone who thinks they have a good chance at a big pay day from the NSL point fund can go to Husets and those that do not can chase the ASCS for 12G to win. Teams face these choices all the time. Stay home & points race or go to a big show.

I just don't see any big conspiracy here.

I  wouldn't worry too much about the NSL Moberly race on Friday.  If the pattern holds that has in recent weeks, they will probably only have 18-22 cars in attendance. Hardly enough to get too excited about.

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

From a business standpoint my first thought would be why a business in South Dakota should be concerned about another business two states away in Missouri is doing.  From a racing fan standpoint my first concern would be working together to boost car counts and benefit the "sport we all love" as we often hear.  The bigger question then becomes (and this is sure to create some discussion) is Sprint Car racing a business competing against other businesses or a love fest where competing promoters never schedule against each other and all give group hugs at promoters workshops?

The reality is that running a race track is a business and they're going to do what benefits their own interests.  How does one balance those two schools of thought?

For the people saying they are so far apart mile wise you are 100% missing the friggin' point, dang!  Some very good drivers have told the Sedalia people they would run the show and now they are snookered by a suspect move from a new suspect owner and Tod.  The Sedalia show has been on the map for some time and I'm sure Brian, Terry and Danny are pissed they now have to make a decision especially when there is so much more money on the line in Sedalia, sucks to be them.....

Let's see, the race in Spencer Saturday was cancelled already on Thursday.................NSL figures it has lost too many races due to rain already....................is quickly able to add another one to the schedule. And that's bad for some of you. I guess I am missing the point then. I guess no one in the midwest is allowed to schedule a race over the one in Sedalia. BTW, how far apart do tracks need to be before someone can have a race on the same night as another track. C'mon experts, what is the proper protocal here?

And Nelly, Huset's is still being run by the old management. The new does not happen until next year.

The point is... Several of these drivers made commitments months ago to Sedalia. In some cases some of the drivers made commitments to different teams also. Many of these drivers have been helping to promote the Sedalia event as well, looking forward to the re-opening of a historic track that has been closed for years.

And amid the talk of more races possible at Sedalia next year the NSL just shot themselves in foot. It would have been a great venue for NSL 410's and 360's in the future. That won't happen now.

Had the Husset's re-schedule been done 3-4 weeks ago it may have been a bit different. Done 72 hours away is pretty bush league and a slap in the face to fans, drivers and teams.

It is a shame that this scheduling conflict has come about. This is the first race Sedalia has had since the tragic incident there in 2012. It's an all sprint show with no support classes and they were banking on the big name power of Sammy Swindell, Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, and Terry McCarl to draw in spectators. From what has been stated by others online, this is kind of a make or break race for the fairgrounds. If they draw a good crowd then they will continue to have races in the future. If it doesn't then there probably won't be racing at the Missouri State Fairgrounds for a long time. Or at least until someone else decides to put some money into promoting a show there again.

I really hope the Sedalia race does well because it's such a historical race track that deserves to be used. I'm sure Lasoski and McCarl will go to Huset's. Sammy's latest PR said he is scheduled to still race at Sedalia, but I'm sure those plans are in flux with Kevin's injury. I think Brown will stay close to home and race at Sedalia, Impact Signs have put cardboard cutouts of him in stores to promote this race so they're banking on him being a huge draw and he has a chance to get a big pay day at the track he cut his teeth at.

Both races will have top quality drivers and hopefully both will have great crowds. It's too bad this Huset's show has a big chance of hurting a race track that is trying to get back on its feet. A crummy situation.

NSL has lost had two races canceled due to rain and one postponed to next Friday. Three if you count Spencer.

And again, to everyone who is missing the point - it's not a distance/regional thing. It's the matter of having guys who have committed and been advertised to compete getting the rug pulled out from under them on 72 hours notice.

Just bad business.
