Oklahoma/Kansas Gearing for USAC SW Non-Wing Sprints!

August 12, 2015 – Geary, Oklahoma - We are just one week away from the start of the 3rd annual “Freedom Tour” featuring the USAC Southwest non-wing sprint car series as four straight nights of “wingless” sprint car racing will take place at four different venues for this 2015 version. It all begins next Wednesday through Saturday night, August 19-22, 2015.

It all kicks off next Wednesday night, August 19, at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma, where the second year in a row, the quarter mile, red clay oval will kick off the tour. Last year it was Arizona’s R.J. Johnson holding off a race long battle with Brady Bacon to pick up his first “Freedom Tour” victory. Also running will be the tracks limited modified division. Gates will open at 6:00 PM with race action slated for an 8:00 PM start time.

There are two ways to get to Lawton Speedway:

From OKC: Take Interstate 44 to Lee Boulevard and then go west onto Lee Boulevard to Sheridan Road. Turn south (left) and go 1.5 miles to the race track
Go west onto Lee Boulevard to Sheridan Road.

If coming from the south of Lawton: Exit Highway 36 and take the Faxon exit. Then go north onto Sheridan Road and the race track will be approximately five miles on your left. For more race information contact Lawton Speedway (580) 355-6417 and you can also check out their official website www.lawtonspeedway.com.

“Topless Thursday” will be next on the docket as Creek County Speedway in Kellyville will host their third consecutive tour event. Last year it was Brady Bacon taking home the victory while the 2013 version saw Tulsa’s Danny Smith win one for the locals. Also running will be the POWERi West midget series as well as the NOW600 non-wing micros. Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM with race action slated for an 8:00 PM start time. Creek County Speedway is located off of the Turner Turnpike to exit 211 (Kellyville exit), Turn right at stop light (Hwy 66) and track is one mile and located on left side of the road. For more race information call (918) 693 7223 or check out their website www.creekcountyspeedway.com.

The state of Kansas will host the final two events on the tour, beginning with 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas as the tour will headline the tracks WIX Filters/Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts “Harold Leep Memorial”. Last year it was Arizona’s Mike Martin picking up the victory while New Mexico veteran Rick Zeihl  took home the victory in 2013. For the second night in a row the POWERi West Midgets will join the non-wing sprinters in yet another night of open wheel action. Gates will open at 5:30 PM with racing slated for a 7:30 PM start time.  81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then .7 mile west on 77th St. in Park City. For more race and ticket information contact the 81 Speedway office (316) 755-1781 or check out their official website www.81speedway.org.

For the third year in a row, the “wingless warriors” will close out the 2015 “Freedom Tour” at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas.  Michael Bonneau topped last year’s “Freedom Tour” final for the non-wing Sprint Cars at Dodge City Raceway Park after Charles Davis, Jr., and Rick Ziehl split DCRP honors in 2013. The finale will also include the K.A.R. vintage cars Eavert Isaac Tribute along with championship chase action for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks. Gates open at 5:00 PM with race action slated for a 7:30 PM start time.

With identical rules to the local ASCS and NCRA contenders minus the wings, a number of local and regional stars are expected to defend “home” turf against the invading forces over the course of the four race mini-series. Each event pays $2500 to win and $250 to start the night’s championship feature finale.
