I haven't ever been to a USAC show. Is it worth the $35 for pit pass entry? I don't believe they have been at Cedar Lake before so just curious.

Absolutely! I'm not sure about a pit pass but I'd pay whatever they're asking to sit in the stands. I woud love to see that show if it was even remotely possible for me to get there. I think that track is well suited to non-wing cars.

I think it would be more enjoyable in the grandstands...Cedar Lake has a nice setup. I am not even sure if a pit pass would get you in the infield there.

Tickets are $25, $10 more to walk around the pits before the race. Worth it for a good show. Thanks.

Its up to you, how much do you want to examine cars & maybe talk to drivers & crew? $10 worth?
But by all means go to the race!

It is worth it. Cedar Lake will be an awesome track for the USAC cars. Just hope the UMSS nonwingers will help fill the field as I can't picture more than 15-20 to travel from Indiana. I have heard a couple might be coming from Michigan to run.

Cedar Lake is a great track. If you've got a motorhome or tent there is camping on the grounds and I'm certain that it will be free for the USAC Show. https://youtu.be/dSRPWDpdyyQ

An inside source told me that car counts for the Wisco swing are actually looking pretty good. Honestly, sitting on the backstretch with easy access to the pits is the way to go! I think the view from the backstretch is better anyways!
Real race cars don't have fenders...

Usac runs 410s and the umss traditional sprints only have what is basically a B MOD engine. I wouldn't expect to see many of the umss cars for this show. But you never know they may just want another night of racing too, and they may show up in force but I really don't think so.

The USAC show last year at Deer Creek had a good car count with several cars from Iowa, South Dakota and the UMSS filling out the field. It had been a long time since I had seen a 410 non-wing race (15+ years) and I was absolutely blown away with the awesomeness of it all. Even time trials can be exciting without wings.

I'm taking the wing off my car and go out and get spanked by the big boys. Only goal of the weekend is to have fun and not get in the way. Doubt any UMSS non wing guys will run as it's just too much of a power difference and the wing guys don't have the B@!!$ to run without a wing

Sums up my feelings. The pit grandstands aren't a great view, they are pretty set back from turn 2. The general admission seats on the backstretch rule. If it's pit action you are craving, I would get a pass. My first visit there I got a pit pass and never utilized it. There's so much awesome stuff going on around the track I really wasn't ever tempted to trudge through the pits during the program.

A couple of the guys might try it with a 360. I think that's what they did last year at Deer Creek. They'll still be down on HP but if it slicks over they might not get lapped. Don't know of anyone who has access to a 410 in the UMSS Traditionals but you never know what kind of connections they can muster for a show right in their back yard. Their home track St. Croix Valley Raceway is about 20 minutes up the road from CLS.

I will be standing in the infield taking your photo with my feet cushioned by my Race Doc inserts.

Official from USAC texted last night that they expect a full field of cars to be at these shows. My prediction is between 18-24 Non wing sprints.

I have a slightly off topic question for USAC & that is why couldn't they have done a swing to the southwest from Cedar Lake on Tue the 11th & run the Ultimate Challenge in Osky? Supposedly their rationale for no longer running it was because their drivers have regular jobs Mon thru Fri & they couldn't make the "long trip" from Indiana to Iowa for a one night show. Doesn't seem to me that excuse is valid with them being at Cedar Lake which is not a long trip from Southern Iowa Speedway. Sort of make me curious what the REAL reason is that USAC didn't want to sanction the Ultimate Challenge again?
