Jerrod Hull – Excited for Farmington!

(Bill W) May 25, 2015 – Jerrod Hull and the Heartland Trailer Manufacturing #12 team are excited to the get to the FVP National Sprint League event this Thursday at the Saint Francois County Raceway in Farmington, Missouri.  The Sikeston, Missouri driver finished second in MOWA competition at the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri last Saturday, and has three races planned this weekend.  In addition to Farmington, MOWA will be in action in Illinois at Lincoln Speedway Friday and Spoon River Speedway near Canton Saturday.

Things went well early on the high banks of Pevely Saturday.  Jerrod would jet to a heat race win. “We finally got a chance to bring out the new Maxim,” he says.  “It was fast from the get go in hot laps.  We were supposed to start the heat fourth, but a car in front of us jumped so we ended up in the front row outside.  The car really felt good running around the cushion.  We were able to get the lead right away and lead every lap.  Maxim did a heck of a job building this car.”

The Dash draw saw him draw the pole.  “We were able to get the jump there as well and led every lap,” says Jerrod.  “The car just felt great.  That put us on the pole of the feature.  Scott (Bonar) had the car great all night like he always does.”
Jerrod would lead at the outset in the main event.  “We were able to get the lead early, and the car was working well,” he says.  “We got into lapped traffic and it was tough.  They were racing each other there in turn three and Paul (Nienhiser) got around us.  I was able to get back around him and back into the lead.”

The battle continued.  “Another lap or so went by and we were in heavy lapped traffic,” says Jerrod. “I made the wrong move.  I went to the wrong groove and he was able to get back by.  There were three cars and I went behind the wrong one.  It was my mistake.  A couple of times, I thought I had a shot at him again in lapped traffic, but the caution came out.  Once we were single-file, we were about the same speed around the top.  We followed him to the checkered.”

The 2013 Saint Francois County Raceway Queen’s Royale champion is excited about Thursday’s NSL visit.  “We can’t wait to get to Farmington,” he says.  “If the car is as good there as Pevely, we have a shot to run up front.  I’m expecting a good race.  With some luck, we’d like to finish top five.”

Visitors sometimes find SFCR a challenge to get around.  “Farmington is definitely different than any other track you go to,” says Jerrod.  “It’s kind of an odd shape.  We’ve seen over the years, good drivers who have struggled there.  It’s just a different place.”
The Queen’s Royale win was a long time coming for Jerrod.  “We finally won that in 2013,” he says. “Last year, we were in the lead, and had a driver error.  Jimmy Hurley passed me in the last corner.”

Jerrod and the #12 team would like to thank: Midland Performance, Super Shox, Sebastian Sand Blasting & Powder Coating, Inc., Chuck’s Small Engines, Don Hamilton, HRP, Lighthouse Christian Center, Rockstar Graphics, King Racing Products, DMI, KSE Performance Products, Hoosier Tire, Simpson, Weld, Automotive Machine, Maxim and Heartland Trailer Manufacturing.
