It was working fine now all of a sudden when I click on the photo icon I get a blank white screen and all of the photos I have uploaded in the past are gone.  I run Linux as an operating system so I can't use MSIE.  My default browser is Firefox and I also have Google Chrome installed.  I was going to post a photo I took of Tony Norem's ride that I took last fall and that's when I discovered the problem.  I'm still seeing photos posted on here so I was wondering what brower they're using to post them.  That really shouldn't matter as I don't have any problem on other boards running Firefox on Linux.  This is kind of a pain in the neck seeing as I've been taking photos for years and am the moderator of one of the HH boards on my own site.  frown

I custom build my own computers and use the Linux Operating system so I can't install Internet Explorer.  Running Linux saves me thousands of dollars so I'm vested in it, especially so as I get closer to retirement and work to pay off some debt.  Posting photos has worked in Firefox on here for years now all of a sudden I'm sitting here looking at a blank sreen whenever I click the photo icon.  I just tried it in Google Chrome and ran into the same thing.  You'd think they'd use a script for this board that works with all the popular browsers like every other board I subscribe to.

If this were to happen on any other board it wouldn't be an issue but I've got one of these boards attached to my website and like to post my photos.  What a bunch of bullshit....   frown

I love Hosehead Forums, but honestly the software behind the forums is from the 90s.  Just seeing Broadband or DialUp options makes one wince.

I agree keeps getting to be more of a pain in the butt. Used to be way easier to post links, pics and copy & paste, etc. Using smart phone about only thing that consistently works now. But even that is way harder than it used to be. Each new forum software generation is worse than the last for past 10 years.

I just lost it within the past couple of weeks and cannot access any of the few dozen photos I had uploaded in the past.  I use the Ubuntu Studio distro for multi track recording and photograhy along with running a few essential Windows programs using the Wine emulator and patches for the OS and browers are installed promptly as soon as they become avaialble.  It's the best OS I have ever used and my computer experience goes back to the days of typing DOS commands before Windows.  I have absolutely no problems on any website or forums that I'm subscribed to.  If I wasn't a moderator of my own board and didn't take photos that I wanted to post I wouldn't care.  The price is right but at a cost....

Stan,

You're not alone. I've had lots of issues posting flyers, banners and track photos also.

What I've found works best is to not use the 'upload' tool within the post any more.

Generally I've been able to get pictures on posts here by simply copy/pasting them from somewhere I've already successfully uploaded them...like Facebook, for example.

And when that doesn't work I switch web browsers (from Explorer to Firefox, or vice versa), and that generally takes care of it.

Similarly, when I now post a weblink, I never use the tool in the message creation box, as it locks up the entire post and I have to start all over. I copy/paste it from another forum/location where I've already posted it.

Those of us that post here regularly try to make our posts look good so readers enjoy looking at them. But it's certainly been a challenge.

Well, I've got web hosting and vaguely remember the html code for a photo but am I wrong in thinking that I shouldn't have to use the same time consuming work arounds I used in 1997 in 2015?  wink

I post photos using the HTML tool and img src tag but have to do a blank post and then edit to add the HTML - the editor will not work correctly while creating or replying on a thread - only while editing something that's already been posted.

Agree to the software here being well outdated. I try to not use Adblock on sites if I don't have to but there's ads on here that constantly time out and the page seems to be coded to load those first, so using Adblock here is a must as it takes my loading time from 1-2 minutes to mere seconds.

agreed with the ads.  when a ad choices ad pops up you can click on the tab and a window will open up.  three or four choices to pick from.   i usually use the (inappropriate) tab.   continually using this feature will cause the ad to disappear...

i found it to be more effort than than usual but the end result is worth it.  besides, no russian wimmen's for me...   L

I use Google Crome with Windows 7 and have had a problem with copy and paste for year or more. Can't get links to work ether with out highlighting and right click, go to. They work better on internet explorer.

My website is www.gotomn.com has been out there since 1999 so I have plenty of space to host photos.  I'm just saying that having the thing work for a few years then stop suddenly forcing me to find a work around is a pain in the (_!_)

I haven't had to use the img scr tags since I got my first wysiwyg website editor over 15 years ago.  I still remember how to do all that stuff and do have web hosting but that's a convoluted mess to have to go through when I want to add a photo.  Not that I can't do it but it's convoluted and time consuming to have to jump through all those circa 1990's era web programming hoops just to slam a pic on here.  wink

...UNLIMITED late model board. Quite a few FORDs too. Amazing what happens when you unhook them and engine rules aren't needed. A lot of 360s and 305s would disappear also.

We need Cubic to keep it interesting in here to be honest and he's forgot more about sprint car racing than most in here know and that especially includes cars, set-ups, tires etc.  Of course he pisses me off on occasion but that's his goal as it is mine every once in a while also.  In the past we have shared emails and he's just a fan like the rest of us.  I have never paid attention to any of the China debate so I can't speak for that at all....
