'Lasoski Banks $6000 in NCRA Sprint Opener!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – March 28, 2015 - Danny Lasoski took the lead on lap ten and never looked back as he claimed his second 5th annual Pepsi “Air Capital Shootout” Saturday night as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products 360-ci sprint car division opened their 26th consecutive season at a jam packed 81 Speedway in Park City.

By virtue of obtaining the most finishing and passing points in heat race competition, Wayne Johnson and Sammy Swindell started on the front row for the 30 lap feature with Johnson getting the jump on the 24 car field as the green flag fell.

Only one lap was complete before the first of four caution flags fell when third starting Jon Agan of Knoxville, Iowa hit the infield tire entering turn two and spun to a stop, ending his night early.

Johnson led the field to turns one and two and the restart with Sammy, aboard the Donnie Cooper #01, getting a bite coming out of turn two and pulled even with Johnson down the backstretch. He would then use the top side of turns three and four to take the lead over Johnson and quickly open an eight car length lead.

While the battle for the top spot changed, behind them it was eighth starting Lasoski , who started fourth on the restart, getting past Johnny Herrera for third and would take over the runner up position from Johnson on lap four.

By lap eight Sammy’s once eight car length lead was cut down to three as “The Dude” worked the bottom of the three-eighths mile oval. The leaders caught the back of the field on lap nine and that was when the final lead change of the night occurred as Lasoski pulled even with Sammy entering turns one and two in traffic and took the lead down the backstretch on lap ten.

A lap fourteen caution for Matt Covington as he came to a stop at the bottom of turn two bunched up the field and on the restart, Lasoski throttled away from the rest of the field, opening a half stretch lead over Sammy by lap sixteen. Lasoski started lapping cars with ten laps to go and by this time had opened a full straightaway lead. Back behind him saw Johnson retake the runner up position from Sammy before Tyler Drueke spun in turn two on lap twenty-three.

Three laps later the final caution of the night fell for Andy Shouse’s spin in turn one and on the final restart, there was no catching Lasoski as he cruised the final seven laps unchallenged to claim his second “Air Capital Shootout” and $6000, the richest purse in NCRA sprint history.

Johnson held on for a strong second while Sammy settled for third. Herrera came home for a solid fourth place finish while two-time and defending co-series champion done the series faithful proud rounding out the top five. Seth Bergman came from fourteenth to finish sixth, followed by Dusty Zolmer, Don Droud, Jr., Justin Henderson and four-time and defending co-champion CJ Johnson rounding out the top ten.

The five, ten lap heat races were won by Dover, Herrera, CJ Johnson, Agan and Campbell while defending “Air Capital Shootout” champion Kevin Swindell, Henderson and Jake Martens claimed the three, twelve lap “B” features.

The next event for the NCRA sprint car division will be on Saturday night, April 18, at 81 Speedway.

The NCRA would like to thank the following for making the 5th annual “Air Capital Shootout” the most successful yet: Pepsi, Mel Hambelton Ford, Park City, Kansas, Precise Racing Products, Hoosier Racing Tires and Sunoco Race Fuels.
