I have called direct tv about upgrading MAVTV to HD.  They pointed me to MAVTV.  MAVTV's support is awesome by the way. They explained to me that they send the signal to direct tv in HD and then direct tv actually downgrades it to SD before it gets to us.  Below is the link to email the presidents office at Direct TV (I got it from MAVTV).  Its all we have for an option at this point. So please click the link below and let them know that we want our MAVTV in HD. (By Saturday at 7:30) Smile

Thank you for your interest in MAVTV HD, and I’m glad you contacted us to get the answer.

MAVTV provides DIRECTV with an HD signal but they currently choose to down-convert the signal to standard definition.  We have been working to change their position on this, and I would encourage you to reach out to them through the following link to their Office of the President:

http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIFnorail.jsp?assetId=P4960016

As a paying customer, your opinion is highly valued by DIRECTV.  We work very hard on creating the highest quality programming for MAVTV and we hope DIRECTV will soon join other providers like Verizon FiOS and Dish Network in offering us in HD.

I would encourage you to continue to watch MAVTV and our programming, as the more viewers we have the more likely DIRECTV will start offering our HD content.

You mean to tell me the HD DogTV channel isn't good enough for you!!!  I second that notion, one of the only good channels on TV in general, DirectTV users can't even get in its ultimate glory.  Heck, if there is silver lining, it's live open wheel racing to pull us out of this winter slumber.

I am waiting for a response from direct tv.  They said I would have one in 24 hours but I am betting its some lame excuse that they cant handle the bandwidth. I my friends think that is a load of crap.

Last year I could not get MavTV at all.   This year I can get it only on HD  Smile  I hope verizon does not change their minds again.   After a couple weekends with MavTV, I would do whatever I could to keep getting, great short track action.

Below is their response.  If you have direct tv click the link above and let them know we want our racing in HD.

Thank you for taking the time to share your suggestions regarding the programming options currently available on DIRECTV. I am glad to hear you have such a passion for DIRECTV and want to make it even better for yourself as well as all customers.

Although we do not carry MavTV in HD right now, and we don’t currently have plans to add it to our lineup, your feedback is important to us as we often make changes based on our viewers' comments. Most often the reasons are related to the available satellite capacity; since standard definition requires less bandwidth than high definition. As satellite capacity increases, we review our programming lineup for enhancements and channel additions.

Please be aware, any proposed channel additions to our current lineup are subject to change until a formal announcement is made. For the latest information on channel additions, please visit our website at www.directv.com/pr.

Again, thank you for the valuable feedback you provided; we can’t improve if we don’t receive feedback like yours!

Sincerely,

Scott
DIRECTV Office of the President

Flipping through the DirecTv channels today and discovered there are two channel 214’s.  We now get MavTv in HD!  Finally!

May not be a bad idea to drop Directv a line letting them know you noticed.

I had not noticed that yet, but that is great news.   When I went to the Devils Bowl WinterNationals back in October there were some hot chicks there passing out stuff.   The one I talked to told me that MavTV in HD was coming on Directv by the end of the year.   Apparently she knew what she was talking about.

Best solution is to just canacel it and subscribe to Lucas Oil Racing TV.  That way rip off companies like cable companies, Direct TV or Dish Network don't get their portion of the monies and it goes straight to the company that supports racing.

I believe all the same shows are on there and you can watch them anytime you want.

Probably should have mentioned that the hot chicks in question were representing MavTV.   Sometimes my fingers type faster and my brain can't keep up...

We cut the cable two years ago and now get our TV through Roku devices cutting our expenses by a considerable amount.  Our first experience with cable dates back to the mid 80's and we have had both Dish and Direct TV satellite service over the years.  The downside of that is we still have to go through the cable company for our high speed internet so we paid to two separate companies until we dropped Direct TV and cut the cable.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.  MAVTV coverage through the cable and satellite services is terrible.  The only option to get MAV where I live would be to double my expenses and go back to satellite TV.  Doubling the cost of my television services six months before I retire and lock into a fixed income ain't happening.

When MAV gets with the times and makes their programming available through streaming devices (Roku, etc.) I'll be the first in line to sign up.  I'm wondering how Lucas Oil TV can offer the channel through those devices and MAV can't.  Right now we're using the Direct TV Now subscription service on Roku for our cable channels but to my knowledge MAV is only available through their satellite service.

Just read this post and decided to check my listings.  YUP, Mavtv is in HD on Directv.  I wonder how long I've had it and never checked.  This is great news.  Too bad it doesn't automatically change what I have recorded to HD

From what I understand Lucas Oil Racing TV is MAVTV for streaming devices.  It's way better than MAV because you can watch what you want when you want.  They also broadcast live races.  Get it you won't be disappointed.

I'm sure this is a case of operator error.....but, I watched a little MavTV last night, and it was still non-HD - and I have DirectTV.

Are you guys saying that if I hit "Guide" that it will show a non-HD 214, and an HD channel 214?

What am I missing?

HD MavTV will be great for their upcoming Tulsa Shootout (think I remember that showing on 13 Jan 18), and live Chili Bowl broadcast.

Thanks for any help.

They do - channel 214. I'm just trying to figure out why I can't see in HD.
