2015 Red River Speedway Schedule, RaceSaver; 'IMCA Invasion' Event Launches

Wichita Falls, TX (1/9/15) by DarinShort.com. A tremendous amount of work has now been completed during the Red River Speedway (RRS) off-season, and here's the news so many race teams and fans have been waiting for:

1. The biggest news, which took a long time in the making, is the announcement that the Sprint Car division at RRS will now be RaceSaver, a division of IMCA, sanctioned.

But that's only the half of it. After providing French Grimes (founder and director of RaceSaver) with transponder times from the 2014 RRS Open Wheel Nationals, RaceSaver is allowing RRS to grandfather in the Champ Sprint division for all 2015 RRS RaceSaver events.

This means if you are a Sprint Car team, you can choose to keep your car 100% RRS Champ Sprint legal, or, 100% RaceSaver legal, and you will be allowed to race at RRS in 2015.

So, if your team is not in a position to transition to RaceSaver at this moment, at least you can still race at RRS without changing over your car to the new rules package.

Special thanks to French Grimes and to IMCA for understanding our request, which helps our teams during this transition period.

This was a long and arduous process, but RRS officials couldn't be more pleased with the outcome, as it was a process six months in the making.

For fans and teams out there that had expected RRS to already have the schedule out, well, this is the source of the delay. But it's all behind us now, so full steam ahead!

2. Speaking of officials, we would like to welcome veteran promoter Richard Snider aboard, as he will be handling the track promoter responsibilities. His daughter Sandy will also be providing administrative support.

3. 'Red River IMCA Invasion' event set for RRS on February 13-14! The RRS kick off will be a special National Points event for the following IMCA divisions: RaceSaver Sprint Cars (again, 100% RRS Champ Sprints are welcome), Modifieds, Stock Cars and Southern SportMods. Factory Stocks will also be on the racing card. Each night will be a separate IMCA National Points event.

An event flyer with lots of details has been prepared and published at the track website http://www.RRSpeedway.com and at the track Facebook page.

There will also be a practice night from 6-10pm on Thursday, February 12th. Mufflers are required for all race divisions. Factory Stock rules are posted at the track website. All cars (except Stock Cars) are required to register for the 2015 RRS season if they compete in this event, which is $30.

Complete event payback per division is posted at the track website under the 'Driver/Rules' tab. Races start at 7pm on Friday night and 6pm on Saturday night.

4. The 2015 RRS schedule is now posted at the track website and on Facebook. This is the first round of the schedule, which allows teams and fans to view the race nights scheduled for 2015. The schedule is print formatted as well.

Note that there are going to be several added attractions, as RRS is still in negotiation with several racing series at this point.

Post-season events are also slated with details being announced later this summer...including the return of the highly dramatic and exciting Open Wheel Nationals.

5. Factory Stock rules will follow the posted rules for Factory Stocks at LoneStar Speedway. Although these two tracks are 250 miles apart, their rules are the benchmark for sustaining the Factory Stock division in this region, paying special attention to keeping the division under control from a cost standpoint. Those rules are posted at the RRS track website under the 'Driver/Rules' tab.

6. The standard division race purses (which go into effect in March) will be posted to the track website in the weeks to come.

7. 'Weekly' divisions (view schedule to see division rotation) will be USRA sanctioned Modifieds, IMCA sanctioned Southern SportMods, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars (with 100% RRS Champ Sprint Cars being legal), Factory Stocks, Pro Stocks and Mini Stocks. Again, the schedule is posted at the track website for viewing/printing.

There are no proposed changes to the RRS Pro Stocks or Mini Stocks rules for 2015.

8. Early driver registration (for all race divisions) will be available at Red River Speedway on Sunday, January 18th from 1pm-5pm.

There you can purchase your driver registration, license (where applicable), fill out minor release forms (for ages under 18 needing pit admittance), W9 forms; etc.

You can also register on Saturday February 7th at the Texas High Performance Auction/Trade Show in Wichita Falls. Details are on the posted track schedule.

A special THANK YOU to the race fans and teams while we corralled all of these components and upgrades for the 2015 racing season at Red River Speedway, and we look forward to seeing you all as the season kicks off with a special event, the Red River IMCA Invasion, set for February 13th-14th!

Please visit the track website for full-size event flyer:
