OFFER MADE
12/31/2014
STRONG RUMOR - (12-31-14 @ 8:40 am CST) - In light of the remarks made by current All-Star Circuit of Champions owner, Guy Webb, I'm hearing that there is a serious offer on the table to buy the series.

Buy what? The name of a series that has already been made obsolete and no longer needs to exist. Isn't it better if renegades have a strong car count- there's not that many 410s imo.

I have attended All Star sprint car races for 30 plus years and I have supported them all the way but after the last years issues its time for a change. For the best of everyone I think its time to pass on the torch Guy Webb. The writing is on the wall but I have been wrong before but I really think its time!

Isn't three cars "thundering through the plains" more like a fart in the wind than a thunder clap? I know they tried a few mid week shows in northern Minnesota and I'm glad I didn't take off work to check them out as the car counts weren't worth burning vacation. That is my last and only impression of the All Stars. IRA has toiled for over a decade to establish themselves on their trips west and has built up a pretty good following in this area. They bring in around 30 cars average whenever they come up this way. In our area that is a big accomplishment and they have paid their dues and deserve the success they're enjoying in western Wisconsin.

Can we start using quotation marks every time "All Stars" is used, or would a question mark be more appropriate? All Stars? or "All Stars"

Blue Sky/GoodWill: A company like the All Stars or the WoO or a better example for a businesses value would be your neighborhood bar, rely on how well the business is doing with fans/patrons,etc. A junky old bar that wall to wall isn't worth$15,000 could be worth $150,000 when you add in the "blue sky" value or often called "goodwill" value. This 150 year old creaky and run-down bar might have a great patronage and is worth 10 to 20 times its "building and contents" value while a brand new bar built on the other side of town (with crappy ownership) is worth less.
My poorly made point is that I don't think the All Star series is worth a dollar more than the equipment the series owns like the timing system, the fuel testing equipment, merchandise trailer, etc and even some of that is leased no doubt. No Blue Sky value IMHO.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

I have never seen them north of Minneapolis/St. Paul but as I mentioned they did have one or two midweek shows up here. I think they ran at Hibbing and possibly Superior but I can't remember the exact stops. It was a 16-18 car deal that would have required a few hours vacation the day of the race and at my age I need the next day off to recover from the late night. Don't recall many of the details but I do remember checking the results the next day and being glad that I didn't burn up vacation to watch a dozen and a half Sprints and a gazillion Super Stocks and Midwest Mods or whatever the local support class was.
This is not 410 country north of the Twin Cities unless a person goes five hours up the interstate to Grand Forks. Every now and then a promoter will get the idea to try a midweek 410 special but the handfull of drivers in the Twin Cities area and most of the field up by Grand Forks are weekend racers who work during the week. Some drive for car owners based out of state or the southwest part of the state so the work week logistics don't work. That's just the lay of the land up here, the best bet to see a full field and not burn vacation is wait for IRA, WoO and UMSS 360 specials on their biggest weekends. Late Models or Modifieds they can run any night of the week and draw 40 car, Sprints not so much. Aside from seeing them mentioned on the web the All Stars and Thunder Through the Plains have always been a non factor up here.

durtraceorbust - I think there is actually 'blue sky' value with the All Stars. That name - All Star Circuit of Champions - has been around a long time... 30 some odd years. To the average fan that doesn't follow all this daily behind the scenes action and just sees the ad in the newspaper that the "All Stars are coming!" - it's a name they recognize because its been around forever and they'll go to the race knowing they are going to see sprint cars. So I'd say there is still some value left in the name. Not nearly as much as there once was, but certainly something.

I would say this is all smoke and wind. This is the last resort for Guy Webb to try to stay afloat. If he can make everyone believe that somebody is stupid enough to by a worthless buisness, this takes all the heat off of him and the way he operates he will probably still own it. How could anyone believe anything this Webb would say at this point.

You look at how many races they scheduled basically being mismanaged for years with only 1 name driver being behind them, that's the value of the name. It still holds a lot of value in ohio, far more than the renegade name just because of the history behind it. The average fan doesn't get the behind the scenes crap we do.

the first race in hibbng had 24 cars and the second race they hosted there had 7 or 8 sprints... ya it was a joke
as for the show in superior it was originally planned for thursday and had a bunch of the woo drivers there along with tony stewart, but they called the show right before the start time due to a quick rain shower, they returned later that weekend and only had 14 sprints from the previous 30+ car count as all of the woo drivers stayed in fargo

I would think a hotdog stand would be a better business, I cant see why anyone would want to buy a failing series.

From what I'm being told, thee are a couple of offers on the table...but I doubt the series is actually for sale. This is just an attempt by a few people trying to salvage a series that has been around for a long, long time. I look for nothing to come of this.
