Candy Canes and Methanol….

Hemby Bridge, NC – McLain Motorsports home base of Hemby Bridge, NC annually host their Christmas Parade and Lighting of the Christma...s Tree Festival the weekend before Thanksgiving. Each year it grows bigger and better and has quickly become one of the top holiday festivals in the county.

With Brandon’s 21B sprinter in a million pieces scattered across the country, and Jacob’s car needing a new body, bladder, and paint job, the mayor of Hemby Bridge was visibly disturbed when we informed him at Texas Roadhouse a few weeks ago we probably wouldn’t be making the parade this year. Pumping our heads full of wonderful compliments like “star attraction” and “think of the children,” this long time politician (whom I’ve voted for every time) was able to convince us that we had to do something…

In steps Bobby Kamikaze… Kamasutra….Kami something…

Showing up at the shop at 10AM to wax his car for the eightieth since his last race at Cherokee a few months ago, everyone standing around starting realizing Bobby K gets a kick out of doing things like this. The parade started at 1:00PM, so we had time to make several brake checks, throttle checks, fuel checks, and heat the motor up.

Yes, we planned on crankin’ her up a few times during the parade. No, we didn’t care how many horses would freak out. The onlookers loved it….The last restart was a little tough and embarrassing with an overheating four-wheeler motor, but Big Red pulled through.

Afterwards, Bobby rolled his sprinter front and center. With a sharpie in hand, 100s of self portraits, and World of Outlaw coffee cups to give away, he quickly became that star attraction to all the children and overage kids in the crowd the Mayor wanted. Six hours of autographs, several sponsorship requests, an upper body work out from hoisting kids into the batmobile, and even a phone number from a really cute single mom, it was time to call it a day… A good day… ok, ok… A great day….

Bobby was able to save the day for the McLain’s and they really appreciate it. It was a little weird when Brandon and Doug started realizing he might have more fans after tonight than they do…. But whatever helps grow sprints in the Carolina’s is all that matters...

Oh, its Bobby Komisarski….my bad…
