Raymond Beadle passed away on October 20th.....
He was a legend in drag racing as well as in Sprint car racing. He won numerous Funny car Championships in the late 70's and early 80's. He also won a Nascar Championship as an owner in Nascar with Rusty Wallace in 1989, he also had a driver by the name of Tim Ricmond in the early 80's. We all know he owned the beautiful red #1 driven by Sammy, also in the early to mid 80's...He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame earlier this year....
RIP Ray and thanks for all the racing memories of the Blue Max!
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint

Raymond hired my dad in the winter of '79 to run his new machine shop and build complete engines, short blocks, and cylinder heads for the funny car. Raymond won the NHRA Funny Car Championship in 79-80-81. When Raymond started the Old Milwaukee super team my dad and his guys at the shop built the engines for Sammy Swindell in addition to doing the funny car stuff.
Had many great times and memorable moments while my dad was employed by Blue Max. RIP Raymond and thank you for all that you did for our family.

Sad to hear.
Did Blue Max also sponsor Bobby Marshall?
