I find that hard to believe. Rico certainly has the resources to do that on his own if he chooses. Kind of like the outlaw schedule he ran this year. Would also think he still  wants to run midgets.

That is where i heard it from haha and it would make sense to bring a name like that on board for Big Game.

Quiring will be looking for a high profile driver to help his new series attract fans, this will be part of his marketing strategy. He would more than likely look at someone young and talented, however the younger pool of drivers are not at a high enough level yet in thier careers, or draw fans like a Sammy Swindel. Rico would be a good choice, and throwing his name in the mix is completley plausable. Tod has more pressing issues to resolve concerning the series first and foremost, before putting a driver in his car. Kinser and Swindell are the highwater mark for pacing and marketing a series, and everyone else in the sprint car world is second tier, yes they are retiring, or are they?

I can't believe Knoxville allows that Arnold to post half the tweets he does.  For a guy employed by a track like that, I've seen some pretty questionable/opinionated tweets about drivers/wrecks that happen...dogging other tracks, etc.

(I'm not really even talking about the Abreu tweet, that's just a rumor in my mind.  But since you brought his name up, I'm sharing my opionion on his twitter account as a whole)

Not defending Eric Arnold (I don't know him, just follow him on twitter) but I find it kind of refreshing that an employee of a track is willing to put his opinion out there whether I agree with it or not. His posts must not bother the track much because he is still employed.

Makes sense to me.  Rico's father is a tremendous businessperson. If another faction desires to support his son's career, go for it.  Tod needs a BIG name to make his series successful, why not Rico.  Complete two win solution.

With all the Series I dont know if necessarily he needs a big name to represent his product. I believe the money he has stated he is putting up will be enough. Knoxville will have four races, and they will run Husets a few different times. They will get their local crowds, and most likely fill a few more seats based on the higher paying events. The Series will be successful because he has deep pockets, and from the sounds of it a lot of Drivers have showed a ton of interest. Someone said the other day they could see some ASCS 360 Teams jumping ship and I totally agree. I wouldnt be a bit surprised to see Drivers like Brad Loyet, Sam Hafertepe, or Jason Johnson to run a bunch of these shows.

I had 2 credible sources on this rumor that typically give me good info. Sometimes they don't pan out.  But at least now we know he won't be racing full-time, and the rumor is put to bed.  But I do anticipate (and hope) to see more of Rico in a 410 sprint car around the Midwest in 2015.  He is a talented driver and exciting to watch.

The haters that hide behind screen names, your opinion doesn't worry me.  Anything that comes from my twitter account is my own opinion, not that of the raceway.  However I do understand that my opinion can reflect on the raceway, which is why I never tweet anything negative and never will when it comes to sprint car racing.  I may something negative about my favorite sports teams however.

I manage the Knoxville Raceway twitter handles (@KnoxvilleRaces, @KnoxvilleNats, @KxvOrangeCone) and provide live race updates and stats there.  Along with being one of the track historians I am also a freelance writer for my blog, Flat Out Magazine, and the author of a book.

I tweet my observations and news worthy things that people are usually interested in.  I'm there because I want to help enhance your experience at the races and to help promote the sport and race track that I am passionate about.  I do not "dog" other tracks so not sure what the reference is to.  Just because you may see a crash differently than I do, that is OK.  I don't typically say it's anyone's fault, unless I know for sure and seen a replay of it.  Typcially I just say that drivers A & B made contact, and then driver A spun, or crashed.  I try to be as positive all the time, yet report facts and news like any member of the news media does.

At times I do have strong opinions, such as axle tethers the past few years, or more recently drug testing.  I stick my neck out occasionally, but the majority of the time I hear and see most people agreeing with me.  Thanks for following! Stay positive....  but if you're on this message board, odds are you won't.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this, so to take a shot at Arnold is just kind of msg board fodder.  Rico was a driver I thought would be highly interested in this series.  He knows he needs more Knoxville track time and has tried to get as much as possible.  Hard to when he's committed to Kunz, but if someone were to give him another series to concentrate on.

If anyone remembers correctly, Shane Stewart was about to sign with Quiring last season to drive the Dollansky deal in the area, instead of Dollansky.  Shane went with Larson/Marks and Dollansky wasn't able to secure a WoO ride.  So therefore he ran the local Big Game deal.

Now, who would have probably been the crew chief had Shane taken that deal? Probably the same guy wrenching for Rico at the moment. This isn't that far fetched, so even if Eric wouldn't have come on here saying he has two sources I figured that it was just some intelligent speculation.

Other drivers I think that might do this out of just pure speculation.

Steve Kinser - retiring from the Outlaws, not racing...better option than the All-Stars and TSR money behind him

Loyet, Jason Johnson, Tony Bruce - These guys have been traveling with ASCS for years now and racing 410s at Kville a lot whenever possible.

Billy Balog - more money and competition to run this instead of IRA and like the ASCS guys was coming to Knoxville whenever possible.

I also have a feeling that someone from Ohio will come out this way and run this to improve their Nationals chances.  I dont have a name, I just figure someone will figure, why not

I also think we will see some local 360 drivers move up.. Billy Alley, Jon Agan, Jack Dover just to name a few

I have no inside information, I know no one at Big Game.  However with the hints dropped about "former outlaw champion", could the vacant seat be filled by Dave Blaney? IMO, his NASCAR days are limited at best.

Seriously, I wish Rico was on the path to Indy. Seems like he can drive the wheels off anything. Give him some seat time in a rear engine car, and I bet he'd be competitive very quickly. Plus, that event and whole series needs another home-grown hero. Rico would be an instant fan favorite.
