We have three drivers enjoying AMAZING seasons:  Christopher Bell, Rico Abreu and Donny Schatz.

Tomorrow on Winged Nation we will have Bell, Abreu and Brad Doty giving us perspective on Schatz. You can catch us live at Noon ET on MRN.

Interested in hearing your take on these three?  Which is most impressive?

Rico in my opinion.

Rico.. Whilst Donny is on an absolute tear with the cars being so even these days compared to the days Steve and Co dominated, I still find Rico's year more impressive.

A, Donny sticks to winged sprints although he is winning in the LM too

B, Rico has what 5-6 years exp v nearly 20

C, Rico has won in Woo, USAC midgets and now non wing..

Certainly taking nothing away from Schatz.. His results speak for themselves but the potential in Rico is clear.

You are entitled to your opinion.  However, I don't think it is possible to vote against the man who has won 8 of the last 9 Knoxville Nationals--the biggest sprint car race in the world. (of which Rico was at the last two years) And, is going to win another World of Outlaws championship--the premier sprint car series in the world--with 19 wins and counting.  I know Rico has enormous potential and no, I am not a Schatz fan at all--can't stand watching him win.  However, Schatz is the man right now--the baddest man on the planet in a sprint car--period.  He may not run much except winged 410's but that is where his money is right now.  Can't take that away from him.

I still think Schatz is the most impressive but think that ultimately Christopher has the greatest upside. While he drives the best midget in the business he has raced in and won in less than stellar sprint cars compared to Schatz and Rico.

If usac paid more than WoO, schatz would be dominating there.

Schatz for sprint car racing is like Lebron in the NBA.  You can make a case for MVP every year, but you hope someone else steps up so you don't have to give it to that person again.  If Allen, Schuhart, or Sweet had the same number of WoO wins this year as Schatz, would there be any doubt who was open wheels MVP?  Schatz suffers from "Donny fatigue".

I think Schatz won more money in one night over more than one hundred other 410 drivers than the others will for a season.plus the other two was some of over the hundred who tried to beat him..

Many variables here when you consider age and experience. You have a 19 yr old kid in his second season competing already and winning at a national level.... Abreu fifth or sixth season..Shatz fifteen or more.  Also Shatz is w same crew and car every race, Abreu in Kunz midget or his own car w top of the line equipment ) same w Shatz) and Bell w a variety of teams and equipment Having to adjust to each diff team. All 3 phenomenal drivers but w varying degrees of experience and equipment! I would have to go w the young inexperienced Bell who is learning to adapt to diff equipment, crew chiefs and car owners.

Donny Schatz by far. All of his wins have been against the best competition out there not to mention winning yet another Nationals title. Since we are talking about who had the most impressive its no contest. As for potential only time will tell if the other two will ever come close to what Donny is doing right now. Most people fall short of expectations but if they exceed them I expect them to move on to something that makes more money then racing sprintcars so true comparisions of them in their prime will be difficult. Hopefully more will follow the Kings route and decide the real racing is in the dirt and open wheel.

Rico. He has far, far less experience racing than either Shatz or Bell. He raced for the first time in an outlaw kart in 2009. His first sprint car race was in 2011. He just won in his 2nd ever non winged sprint car race at Calistoga.

So in my opinion of what is "impressive" its the results and accomplishments that Rico has created in such a short career.

You cant judge a career based on one large track which demands the best motor and setup. Diversity of surfaces, sizes and vehicles is how you measure talent.

Cheers!

Abreu has not been racing midget and or sprint cars for 5-6 seasons. His first sprint car race was March 2011.

Cheers!

I am a fan of all 3, but Donny has had the best season. He is racing with the best dirt track drivers in the world and night in night out he has been right there. As of now he has 20wins 49 top 5's and 62 top 10's out of I believe 69 races.

I don't like Donny at all but those stats dont lie. Thats "impressive." In the coming years people will be talking about the 20 plus win seasons of 2013 and 2014 against the best and the huge Nationals wins which I weight heavily. Look at the amount of cars, level of competition, and multiple places for him to mess up yet his calm consistancy prevails. I believe the other two will have more note worthy season in the future that will be nearly as impressive and talked about more than the year both are having now. Just my opinion. They are all great and they all have different styles of racing and backgrounds which makes it fun to compare.

All 3 drivers are incredible..... Shatz is an absolute machine....Abreu has the heart of a giant.....Bell came in with no money, an unknown and is where he is on sheer talent alone.  Each have mad skills and are the car to beat night after night.

Here is a link to Winged Nation featuring Christopher Bell, Rico Abreu and Brad Doty talking about Donny Schatz:

http://www.mrn.com/Media-Center/MRN-Show-Archives/Winged-Nation.aspx

All three guests pointed to Schatz.

Personally I think we are at a great spot in this sport where we can witness such excellence.

Christopher Bell is amazing on track and so well-thought-out in his assessment.  I just can't phathom where he will be in a couple of years.

Rico is just an inspiration; his talent is incredible and his heart holds more passion for racing than anyone I've ever heard.

Donny is an absolute machine (stole this from someone else in an earlier post), it's just impressive to see what he's doing.

The Winners:  US folks who love to watch racing. On any given night on any give track in any type of race car in any part of the country we get to witness excellence!  WE WIN!

I wouldnt exactly say the cars are even as you think....i doubt Shark Racing has a fraction of what TSR, and KK has in his teams. i would even imagine that Roth, Jason Sides, Kraig Kinser dont have the money or the resources that KK and TSR.
