Donnie won 2 in a row in Canada.... is he already on his Knoxville roll? Kinda scary for fans who would like to see a different winner at the Nationals.
I'm not a Schatz hater by any means but the only thing that could top his win from 21st last year would be a DIFFERENT winner.....
His run last year was astounding.....every time he passed someone I was thinking, "no, he couldn't possibly win". By the time he got to about 4th I realized "this guy is gonna do it, isn't he?"

I like Brian Brown's idea from last year of having Schatz start the race from Oskaloosa....

Reminds me a lot of Steve in his younger years! This is the time of the year when he started to hit his stride. The heat of the summer was when they would turn up the heat themselves!!!! JMO but unless he breaks at Knoxville he'll win it again!

Beat me to it.
There were so many years that Steve would have a mediocre first half and then kick a$$.
I'm not a big Schatz fan but he earns Jeremy's rating - he beat the best - often - when the best were still good.

I'll still give the nod to Kinser because he beat some of the best of all time when they were at or near their prime.
But Schatz is second.....and closing.
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

Like I've said before, Schatz is in a league of his own right now. Steve was never in a league of his own because of a couple of guys named Swindell and Wolfgang. Schatz is no better than ANY of those 3 IN THEIR PRIME. He is very fortunate right now that he is the only driver today with the talent of all 4 of them. ( Plus it don't hurt to have Ricky Warner as your crew chief. He has made mediocre drivers look good. Schatz went 10 years before winning his first WOO championship. Since '06 he won 5 championships and 7 Nationals crowns, ALL since Ricky Warner got there). It's an absolute shame that there's not a couple of other guys with that talent right now that could create that much needed rivalry like Steve and Sammy had for so many years. It would make the WOO series even more popular than it is.
Schatz will go to the nationals and run about 3rd on his qualifying night, like he always does, then it don't matter where he starts on Saturday, he will be at least a half a second per lap faster than anybody in the field and drive by them like their runnin a 6 cylinder, like he always does. Not sure why he hasn't been recruited by Hendrick Motorsports, or the like,to run Nascar with the talent he's got.

I guess winning 50+ races a season isn't in a leage of your own, but 20ish is right? lol

Different era. Even 10 years ago there was a big difference between motors from various builders and chassis from various manufacturers. Today so many guys are running real good equipment. Being alittle off on setup or drawing a bad pill is the difference between a top 5 starting spot and a 15th+. Additionally being the cars are so close it's a lot tougher to pass when you do move up through the field.

I understand that lol, I just understand how you can win 50+ races in a season, nearly a 50% win percentage, and not be considered in a league of your own lol
