Blevins Lays Claim as Hutch Nationals Street Stock Champion!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Hutchinson, Kansas – July 26, 2014 - Alan Blevins started on the pole, held off mid race charges from Marlin Farr and went the final distance unchallenged and claimed his first Hutchinson Grand Nationals championship in the street stock division as the 58th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts version presented by Mel Hambelton Ford took place Friday and Saturday night atop the famed half mile oval of the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas.

By virtue of winning Friday night’s dash that set the starting order for Saturday night’s championship finale, Blevins and Jeremy Bishop started on the front row for the twelve lap feature with Blevins taking the lead as the green flag fell. He quickly opened a half stretch lead while Bishop and third starting Farr battled for the runner up spot.

Blevins was on cruise control the first two laps before the first caution waved on lap three. The restart saw Blevins elect to start on the outside with Bishop relegated to the bottom and it almost paid off as Bishop briefly took the lead exiting turn two. Blevins fought back down the backstretch and would go around Bishop entering turns three and four to retake the lead for good.

Blevins would again put distance between himself and the rest of the field while behind him; Bishop had his hands full with Farr for the runner up position.

Farr would take over that position on lap six and would find the leader once gain opening up a half stretch advantage.  Farr would begin to reel in the leader and on lap ten pulled to within three car lengths of the leader. But the final two laps saw Blevins pull away and he would go on to take the victory by ten car lengths and lay claim as street stock Hutchinson Grand Nationals champion.

Farr settled for second while fifth starting Darren Moses came home third. Eleventh starting Adam Schragg came home fourth while Adam Popp rounded out the top five.

A Feature: 1) Alan Blevins, 2) Marlin Farr, 3) Darren Moses, 4) Adam Schragg, 5) Adam Popp, 6) Jeremy Bishop, 7) Greg Lynch, 8) James Weve, 9) Shawn Bretthaur, 10) Craig Miller, 11) Dustin Frenya, 12) David Blocher
