This is our first time going to Eldora. Need to buy tickets and lodging for 4-Crown races. Anyone have any advice on either? We do have a pop up camper. How close is closest motel/hotel. Any advice would be helpful.

Camping would be the best option. They do have some lodging but its a decent distance away from the track. They have lodging options on eldora's website that you can mapquest the distance. I always recommend a pit pass at least one of the days and see the action up close. You can always sit wherever you want if you want to go up into the stands as long as no one has bought those seats. Usually you are pretty safe past the cover on the front stretch. If you have a camper, use it, food is cheap at the track, get there early and take in everything that you can.

camping is great option..its free for the 4crown...seats are available so I would just buy at track when you get there...closest hotel is probably Greenville which is aproximately 17 miles or so..staying at the track you get to take it all in..and the food is good and reasonable...the will have activities going on..check the website...we have always enjoyed staying at the track..BTW..this is Mrs.sprint...lol

Greenville is the best and closest place for hotel rooms. The Greenville Inn does not look good from the outisde, but the rooms are decent and clean on the inside. There is also a Comfort Inn and a Holiday Inn Express their.

Thanks for all the info. Is there showers at the campgrounds? So you think it would be safe to wait to get tickets for good seats when we get there. Thanks in advance.

I'm currently in Eldora for the NCWTS race and we are staying at a campground that is about 20-25 minutes away which has water, sewer and electric hookup. There is also a shower/bathroom house on the grounds. It's not a 4 star hotel but if you have your own camper, its perfect for $35 a night. Kozy Kamp Ground in Celina, Ohio. Google them for more information.

Dangitt - just wanted to throw another 4-crown suggestion in there for you. During the day (at least on Saturday) they run the quarter midgets on "Little E", which is just off of turn three of the big track. I have sort made a tradition of it - I go early/mid-morning, pack a cooler, and take my lawn chair over to Little E and watch the quater midgets through up until the gates open for the big track. Then I take my stuff in, get my seat, and come back out to watch the quaters. It's free - can't beat that! The young guys and gals can really drive and the racing is good. My favorite race day of the year. Unfortunately, business will keep me away from the 4-crown for the first time in 17 years this year.
Have fun Dangitt and safe travels!

Dangitt, other than Kings Royal, there's no trouble with tickets/space/seats. The earlier you arrive the better, but the track being lower than the hillside is one of the great things about Eldora.

there is more than enough camping space at the track. showers are available, a good way to make new friends.
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

There is another campground less than 10 miles to the east called "Cotton wood lakes" google it.. its around $25 a night I believe (Price might of went up since 2011). They do offer $5 showers to non campers if you plan on stAying at track. Showers are very clean & unlimited time. Then you can stop in Yorkshire at the lil bar for breakfast then go to Osgood to the lil grocery store for their marinated pork chops!! Yummy!!! also check out Fish Mo's in St. Henry just west of the St. Henry night club resturant.. Awesome pizza & cheap food..
